3 ROANOKE SCHOOLS GET NEW PRINCIPALS

Paul McKendrick, an assistant principal in Fairfax County, has been named principal of the Addison Aerospace Magnet Middle School. McKendrick is a former English instructor at Hampton University who has worked in Fairfax County for nearly a decade.

McKendrick will replace Beverly Burks, who is retiring.

Fallon Park Elementary's new principal will be Gerald McDearmon. For the past five years, McDearmon has been a hall principal at William Fleming High School. He is a former social studies teacher at Patrick Henry High School and Woodrow Wilson Junior High School.

McDearmon will replace Virginia Stuart, who will become principal at Morningside Elementary. Morningside has been closed for a year for renovation.

Stuart has been principal at Fallon for three years. Before that, she was principal of Round Hill Primary School and Forest Park Elementary School. She also has been a teacher at several city schools.

In another move, William Lalik, principal at Wasena Elementary School for four years, will become a research assistant in instruction for the city. Wasena will be closed for the next school year for renovation. Lalik also has been principal at Crystal Spring Elementary School and has taught at several city schools. He taught for 21 years in New York before coming to Roanoke.
