TEEN CAUGHT WITH FIRECRACKERS, CRACK

Roanoke police stopped a 16-year-old boy for possession of firecrackers Saturday and discovered he also had seven chunks of crack cocaine.

According to a news release, COPE officers saw the youth preparing to light the firecrackers in the Lincoln Terrace housing project around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. When he handed over his firecrackers, the officers saw the bag of crack cocaine.

The crack weighed 2.2 grams, the release said.

Police are seeking legal petitions against the boy, who they said is not a resident of Lincoln Terrace.
