GRAND JURY INDICTS 3 IN BURGLARIES

A Bedford County grand jury indicted three men Tuesday in connection with a series of burglaries of Bedford stores in late March and early April.

Michael Anthony Haworth was charged with four counts of breaking and entering and three counts of grand larceny. Robert Junior Wright was charged with two counts of breaking and entering and two counts of grand larceny. Michael Lamont Anderson was charged with one count of breaking and entering and one count of grand larceny.

Haworth, who has been in Bedford County Jail since the three men were arrested April 22, is accused of breaking into Holdren's Farm Supply on March 24. He is also accused of burglarizing Overstreet General Repair on U.S. 460 West on March 27, Coffey & Saunders Farm and Hardware Supply at 801 Macon St. on March 28 and Dave's Sport Shop at 205 N. Bridge St. on April 7.

Tools valued at $200 were stolen from Holdren's, chain saws valued at $200 were stolen from Coffey & Saunders, and two handguns worth $200 were stolen from Dave's Sport Shop.

Wright is charged with aiding the burglaries of Coffey & Saunders and Dave's Sport Shop. Anderson is charged with aiding the burglary of Coffey & Saunders. Both Wright and Anderson were released on bond.

Trial for all three men was set for Sept. 15 in Bedford County.
