IN SCHOOL

SHERI STEPHENS of Blue Ridge Stephens has been selected to attend The National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., a leadership development program for high school students who have demonstrated leadership potential and shcolastic merit. Stephens is a student at Lord Botetourt High School and has been a member of the Key Club, National Honor Society, Latin Club, Student Council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

\ THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS has announced the recipients of the annual Albert H. Canfield Memorial College Scholarships for sons and daughters of Roanoke Council 562 members. The scholarships are based on academics; church, school and community service; personal interview; and need.

The recipients of $500 scholarships are: Brian Lassuri, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Lazzuri, Mary Washington College; Amy Beth Mercer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Mercer, Mary Baldwin College; Michael P. Duffy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew F. Duffy, Randolph Macon College; Karl A. Mardian, son of Phyllis Mardian, Mary Baldwin College; and Katherine Marie Minahan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patick M. Minahan, Randolph Macon College.

The recipients of $250 scholarships are: Raymond Canfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Canfield, Lenoir-Rhyne College; Christopher John Rowland, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Rowland, Virginia Western Community College; Steven Devlin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Devlin, George Mason University; Carolyn Hoopes, daughter of Elizabeth Hamrick and William Hoopes, George Mason University; Shannon Groves, Radford University; and Christine Lee Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Wood of Troutville.

\ KATHLEEN BLANKENSHIP, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Blankenship, was named to the dean's list at Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky.

\ LUCY LEE, daughter of Jim and Lucy Lee of Roanoke, was awarded a bachelor of arts from Earlham College in Richmond, Ind. She graduated with a major in peace and global studies with college honors.

\ CABELL WILLIAMS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Williams of Roanoke, recently graduated from Oldfields School, a college preparatory school for girls in Glencoe, Md.

\ ROBERT C. WOLFE, son of Elizabeth Colwell Koehler and Barry Wolfe of Roanoke, recently graduated from Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y. He received a bachelor of arts in geography and graduated cum laude. Wolfe also received the Shannon McCune Prize in geography and was named the senior geography major who demonstrated outstanding academic merit and promise.

\ JAMES MALLORY DIXON, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter M. Dixon Jr., recently graduated from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., with a bachelor's degree in history.

\ GREATER ROANOKE HOME EDUCATORS, a local support organization for more than 175 families who teach their children at home, recently announced the names of its graduates. They are: Colin David Campbell, son of Paul and Dawn Campbell; Steven Louis Kokkinakos, son of Louis S. Kokkinakos and Susan V. Traxel; and Jason Scott Northington, son of Terry and Marie Northington.
