\ LANCE CPL. ROBERT B. TUCK, son of Wayne Tuck of 6827 Byers Road and Delaine Newcomb of Troutville, has received a meritorious mast while assigned with Marine Aircraft Group 42, Fourth Marine Aircraft Wing, Norfolk.
\ PFC. MICHAEL BRIAN MILLS, son Mills of Richard L. and Emily T. Mills of Roanoke County, recently graduated from Marine basic training at 29 Palms, Calif.
He will be stationed at Camp Lejuene, N.C., for the next two years.
\ CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER ROBERT C. BIRCH recently received the Navy achievement medal while assigned at the Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, N.C.
\ CHIEF PETTY OFFICER WAYNE G. MIESEN and COAST GUARD PETTY OFFICER MICHAEL THOMPSON received the Special Operations Service ribbon for duty during Operation Desert Storm.
Miesen was assigned to a Coast Guard port security unit at Camp Blanding, Fla., and Thompson was assigned to the Marine Safety Offices at Wilmington, N.C., and Hampton Roads. Both are members of the Smith Mountain Lake Coast Guard Detachment.
\ SEAMAN RECRUIT GREGORY H. JARVIS, son of Gale A. and Jarvis Harold W. Jarvis Jr. of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
Jarvis is a 1992 graduate of Cave Spring High School.
\ AIRMAN JEREMY KAPP, son of Vicki and David Kapp of Roanoke, has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
Kapp is a 1993 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.
\ SEAMAN RECRUIT SCOTT T. DAWYOT, son of Peter Dawyot of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 1989 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.
\ AIRMAN PHILLIP E. WITMER, son of Verle E. and Jane S. Witmer of Roanoke, recently received the Navy Good Conduct Medal which recognizes honest and faithful service during a four-year period. Witmer maintained a satisfactory level of performance and an unblemished conduct record for the entire period.
