IN SERVICE

MICHAEL A. PADERICK of Troutville recently was promoted to the rank of corporal while serving with the fourth combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division in Lynchburg.

\ AIRMAN PHILLIP E. WITMER, son of Verle E. and Jane S. Witmer of Roanoke, recently received the Navy Good Conduct Medal which recognizes honest and faithful service during a four-year period. Witmer maintained a satisfactory level of performance and an unblemished conduct record for the entire period.

\ PETER A. BUCHANAN, son of Darlene B. Whitt of 5067 Northwood Ave., has been promoted to senior airman.

Buchanan is a 1989 graduate of William Fleming High School.
