Dan Cleveland, director of public safety at the hospital, was making his regular morning security rounds when he discovered the baby inside a small black bag in a first-floor stairwell.
The 7-pound boy apparently had been left at the hospital between 8:35 a.m. and 9:05 a.m., said Deborah Meyers, the hospital's director of public affairs. The infant was between 12 hours and 24 hours old.
