DAV CHAPTER INSTALLS NEW SLATE OF OFFICERS

Korean War veteran Richard Ridenhour was recently installed as commander of The Disabled American Veterans H.H. MacKenzie Chapter #3.

The following were also installed: Jack Holt, senior vice commander; David Burgess, first junior vice commander; Phil Turpin, second junior vice commander; Laurie Tatum, chaplain; and Jim Clem, treasurer.

Virgil Peverall will report to the organization's state executive committee; Ed Hornby will serve as his alternate. Harold Worrell was installed as the member-at-large to the same committee.

VDOT to auction used equipment Wednesday

The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a used equipment auction at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at its Salem district office on Harrison Avenue, behind the Home Shopping Network.

More than 250 items including adding machines, floor jacks, ice machines, snow plows and pickup trucks will be sold to the highest bidder.

Prospective buyers may inspect items from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday and the day of the sale. A deposit is required on any purchased items.
