Salem Army Reserve gets new commanders

Col. Michael L. Aliff and Col. Robert D. Eldridge have been named to command two Salem Army Reserve units.

Aliff will command the 2nd Brigade, 80th Division. He was the former commander of the division's 1st brigade.

Eldridge will take over the 80th's Training Support Brigade. He formerly commanded the division's 3rd brigade.

Headquartered in Richmond, the 80th Division is made up of 4,200 reservists serving in units in 24 Virginia communities.

Roanoker is delegate to national association

Francis X. "Frank" Hayes Jr. of Roanoke has been elected to a three-year term in the House of Delegates of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging.

Hayes is executive vice president of Virginia Lutheran Homes Inc.

As a delegate to the group, Hayes will help select officers and members of the association's board of directors and assist the board in long-range planning, governance and clarifying policy.
