Marine Lance Cpl. ADAM STRICKLER, son of Brenda Finley, Radford, completed the Cold Weather Survival School at Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport, Calif.

Navy Seaman Recruit BENJAMIN P. HUBBARD, son of Paul K. and Glenda D. Hubbard, Blacksburg, completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Navy Airman SCOTTIE W. PHILLIPS, son of William H. Phillips of Christiansburg, is midway through a six-month deployment in the Adriatic Sea with Attack Squadron 35, Virginia Beach.

Marine 2nd Lt. NATHAN M. RUSH, son of Larry D. and Donna G. Rush, Christiansburg, graduated from the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Program

Navy Seaman Recruit THOMAS K. VAUGHT, son of Virgil T. Vaught, Narrows, completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class THOMAS J. ROSEBERRY, son of Rita T. and Thomas J. Roseberry II, Dublin, reported for duty aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Jarvis, Honolulu.

Navy constructionman ROBERT W. BAKER, son of Alice K. Tate, Christiansburg, recently deployed to Croatia with Fleet Hospital Six, Camp Pendleton, Calif. Baker was hand-picked to accompany 240 Navy and Marine Corps personnel who will work with United Nations Protection Forces .

Army Pvt. JAMES A. MURPHY JR., son of Eleanor G. Murphy, Christiansburg, reported for duty at Fort Stewart, Hinesville, Ga.

Navy Lt. ERIC T. HANSON, whose wife, Kimberly, is the daughter of William R. and Kathren P. Sevebeck, Blacksburg, completed the Submarine Officers Advanced Course at the Naval Submarine School, Groton, Conn.

Marine 2nd Lt. CHRISTIAN D. HARSHBERGER, son of Richard F. and Kathleen T. Harshberger, Radford, completed basic training at Marine Corps Combat Development Command, Quantico, Va.

Those who have recently participated in the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of D-Day in the Mediterranean include:

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class KENNETH W. BISHOP, whose parents are Grenville L. and Clestine J. Bishop, Willis, deployed with the guided missile destroyer USS Barry, Norfolk, Va.

Marine Cpl. DAVID W. LAWSON, son of David J. Lawson and Kathy L. Richards, both of Pulaski, deployed with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class JOHN R. CRUZ, whose wife, Kristal, is the daughter of Joyce L. Taylor, Pulaski, deployed aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Thomas S. Gates, Norfolk, Va.

Navy Lt. DONALD T. ALLERTON, a 1979 graduate of Radford High School, deployed aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Guam, Norfolk, Va.

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class JOHN P. BURLESON, son of O. Wade and Oneda C. Burleson, Blacksburg, deployed aboard the submarine USS Newport News, Norfolk.
