LOOK FOR FORMAT CHANGES IN FALL

Radio listeners in the New River Valley will have to wait a while longer to see what FORMAT CHANGES might be in store for Rock 105 (WVVV, 104.9 FM) and WJJJ (1260 AM), recently purchased by New River Media Group, which owns country-formatted "Eagle Country 107" (WPSK, 107.1 FM). Studios and offices for all three stations will relocate near Radford later this year. For now, it will be business as usual, but watch for changes by this fall, the stations' new owners said this week.

Station officials have been mum on speculation that rocker WVVV would switch to country music. However, the station will move up the dial to 105.3 and raise its power to 25,000 by early 1995.

New River Media Group has said the stations will become more aggressive in news and sports programming and community involvement.

Monday at 11:30 p.m. on Rock 105, talk live to new bands on "Rockline Interactive Radio" by calling (800) 344-ROCK (7625).

Wednesday at 11 p.m., it's "Spin Radio."

For more information, call the stations at 382-4993.

Tune in the TOMMY BAKER REPORT with Del. Tommy Baker (R, Dublin) Monday at 4:32 p.m. on Classic Country WRAD (1460 AM) and at 6:35 p.m. on CD Country WRIQ (101.7 FM) in Radford.

Baker will report on the final actions of the recent special General Assembly session that dealt with tax refunds to federal pensioners. Bob Thomas is the program's host.

Join Brian O'Donnell for a weekly call-in show featuring drivers and officials of the New River Valley Speedway Thursdays at 5:45 p.m. over WRAD and WRIQ. Listeners get a chance to win tickets to the race that Saturday.

Call the station at 639-2461.
