Comedy at Barter

ABINGDON - "Three to Get Ready," a comedy by David DeBoy dealing with children and an aging parent, is playing at the Barter Playhouse through July 30.

Three brothers get together at their childhood beach house to try and decide what to do about their mother, who is encountering difficulties because of her age.

"People see this play and say 'This is my family' or 'This is my mother,'" said Richard Rose, Barter's artistic director. "We can all identify with the situation. The play is more fun because it relates directly to our own experiences."

Scott Harrison, Randall Rapstine and Robert Walsh play the brothers and Marya Lowry, the mother.

Lowry recently played "Birdie" in "The Little Foxes," which Walsh directed. Rapstine played the lunatic "Renfield" in "Dracula!" and "Tito" in "Lend Me a Tenor" last season at Barter.

Cliff Goodwin is directing "Three to Get Ready." Scenic designer is Daniel Ettinger; costume designer, Amanda Aldridge; lighting, David Friedl, and sound designer, Don Tindall. Further information and reservations are available by calling 1-800-368-3240.
