Gordon and Justina Alley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 3, 1994, at their home in Franklin County, hosted by their oldest daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Bob Weinhold. The couple were married July 8, 1944 in Pikeville, Ky., and moved to Roanoke in 1964, then in 1991 they moved to Franklin County. She's the former Justina Wasnuk of Elbert, W.Va. They have two daughters, Charlotte Weinhold of Alexandria; and Barbara Alley of Brandon, Florida; six grandchildren, Brian Hale, Laura W ilhelm, Michael Hale, Christopher Kualii, James Kualii, and Shannon Kualii; also two great-grandchildren, Nicki Wilhelm and Bryce Hale. Organizations they belong to include Fleet Reserve Assoc., and National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees.

Hartberger anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hartberger celebrated their 58th anniversary at Grandmother's Restaurant, Bent Mtn. with hosts Robert and Rebecca Ragland. The couple married June 26, 1936 in Rke. City. Mrs. Hartberger, the former Talitha Altice, retired from Visco. Mr. Hartberger retired from Clover Creamery and Mowhawk Co.
\ Mullen anniversary
Pete and Ruby Mullen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 3, 1994 at the Vinton War Memorial. It was hosted by their three sons and daughters-in-law and grandchildren. The couple were married July 5, 1944 in Vinton, Va. They are life-long residents of Roanoke. She is the former Ruby L. Gregory. Their children are Ray Mullen of Roanoke, Gordon Mullen of Boones Mill and G. Pete Mullen of Vinton. They have seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. and Mrs. Mullen are both retired. Out-of-town guests attending the celebration included Alice Dallas of Oriental, N.C., Mr. & Mrs. Ron Elliott of Pa. and Mr. & Mrs. J. B. Looper of Lenoir City, Tenn. The celebration was attended by all family members and a host of good friends.
\ Wilson anniversary
A 50th wedding anniversary reception was held June 18, 1994, at First United Methodist Church, Salem, Va., in honor of the Rev. John Lee and Zola Goins Wilson. Their four children hosted the celebration. They were married June 17, 1944, in Stuart, Va. Rev. Wilson has pastored Roanoke Congregational Holiness Church for 31 years. Zola is retired from Kroger Distribution Center as a meat cutter. They reside in Elliston, Va., where they have lived for 47 years. They also have five grandchildren.
