Maddy-Hunziker

Jill R. Hunziker and Stephen M. Maddy were married July 9, 1994, in Franklin Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor John Riggs officiating. The reception was held at Vinton War Memorial. The maid of honor was Miss Sarah Hunziker, sister of bride. Matron of honor was Mrs. Kelly Sanders, friend of bride. Bridesmaids were Miss Trenda Adkins, Miss Michelle Amos, Miss Amy Satterfield, Mrs. Melanie Gentry and Miss Cathy Thompson, all friends of bride. Flowergirl was Miss Amber Hunziker, cousin of bride. Mr. Michael Maddy, brother of groom, served as best man. Ushers included Mr. David Maddy, father of groom, Mr. Brad Hunziker, brother of bride, Mr. Aaron Burnley, Mr. Brent Flora and Mr. Kevin Anderson, friends of groom. Ringbearer was Master B. Devin Neighbors. Miss Laurin Richard attended the guestbook. The bride wore her mother's gown of silk and alencon lace. She carried a cascading bouquet of gardenias, stephanotis and orchids. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick R. Hunziker of Hardy. She graduated from Franklin County High School and from Ferrum College and Roanoke Memorial Hospitals School of Medical Technology. She is employed by Roanoke Memorial Hospitals as a Medical Technologist. The groom is the son of Mrs. Nicky Jenkins of Rocky Mount and Mr. David Maddy of Barnwell, South Carolina. He graduated from Franklin County High School and is a senior at Ferrum College. The newlyweds will live in Roanoke, Virginia, after a wedding trip to the Bahamas and Disneyworld.

\ Moore-LeFever

Traci Elizabeth LeFever and Sherman Lynn Moore were married July 9, 1994, at Christian Fellowship Church in Glade Hill, Virginia. Reverend Bill Doss officia ted. Music was provided by Lynn Meeks. The reception was held at the Rocky Mount Moose Lodge. Traci was escorted by her father. Maid of honor was Marcia Webb, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Jeannie Prillaman, Stephanie Morgan, Angie Sigmon, and Renee W. Smith, all friends of the bride. Best man was Sonny Moore, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Timmy Moore, brother of the groom; WC Brown, Cale David, and John Caldwell, all friends of the groom. Guestbook attendants were Brian and Caroline LeFever, brother and sister-in-law of the bride. Traci is the daughter of George and Maxine LeFever of Rocky Mount, Virginia. She is a 1989 graduate of Franklin County High School and is employed at Erath Veneer Corp. Sherman is the son of Sonny and Norma Moore of Glade Hill, Virginia. He is a 1988 graduate of Franklin County High School and is employed at MW Mfg. After a wedding trip to the beach, the couple will reside in Glade Hill, Virginia.

\ Moran-Pelletier

Denise R. Pelletier, daughter of Albert N. Pelletier and the late Rita N. Pelletier, and Melvin R. Moran, son of the late Elbert A. and Nellie B. Moran, were united in marriage on July 8, 1994 at the Wedding Chapel in Roanoke.

The couple will make their home in Troutville.

\ Oliveira-Rugaber

Leslie Ann Rugaber and Gary William Oliveira were married Saturday, July 9, 1994, in an outdoor ceremony at the bride's parents' home at Meadows of Dan. The Rev. Jan Fuller Carruthers, chaplain of Hollins College, officiated.

The double ring ceremony was followed by an outdoor luncheon adjacent to the wedding site.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rugaber of Roanoke and Meadows of Dan. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. William Oliveira of Wareham, Mass.

The bride's grandparents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter F. Rugaber of Macon, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel B. Sanford of Milledgeville, Ga. The bridegroom's grandparents are Mrs. Alfred Solfvin of New Bedford, Mass., and the late Mr. Solfvin, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Asdrubal Oliveira of New Bedford.

The bride is an associate producer at KCTS, the public television affiliate in Seattle, Wash. She graduated from Wellesley College and previously worked at the Wellesley College Museum. She is a graduate of North Cross School in Roanoke.

The bridegroom is an instructor of photography at Green River College in Auburn, Wash. He graduated cum laude from the University of Dayton, and received a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. He is a fine arts photographer who has exhibited his work at several galleries in the Seattle area.

The bride's attendants were: Mary Elizabeth Erwin of Charlotte, N.C., maid of honor; Maria Roman of Dallas, Texas, Alexandra Mochary of New York, and Lucy Flint-Gohlke of Ashland, Mass., all friends of the bride; and Jill Oliveira of Wareham, the bridegroom's sister.

The bridegroom's best man was his brother, Douglas W. Oliveira, of Wareham. The groomsmen were David Blanchette of Somerville, Mass., and Daniel MacKenzie of Buzzard's Bay, Mass., friends of the bridegroom; and the bride's brothers, Christopher S. Rugaber of Washington, D.C., and Mark T. Rugaber of Devon, Pa.

The bride wore a traditional gown of ivory dupioni silk with a scalloped hem, sleeves and long peplum over the back of the dress. She carried a nosegay bouquet of salmon and white roses.

After a wedding trip to Portugal and Spain, the couple will live in Seattle.

\ Reed-Sheffield

In a private ceremony on June 2, 1994 at 4:00 pm, Luke Reed and Mary Sheffield lovingly exchanged marriage vows.

\ Reed-Slone

Cynthia Sue Slone and Ronald E. Reed were married June 11, 1994 in Las Vegas, NV. The bride is a daughter of Dorothy Jeter of Vinton and Louis Slone of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Wm. Fleming High in Roanoke and is serving in the US Navy (Dental Technician-Petty Off. 3rd Class.). The bridegroom, son of Lynda R. Joy and Clarence Reed, of Lawton, Ok., is a graduate of Forks Sr. High, Forks, Wa. and Coleman College, San Diego, Ca. He is employed by Coopers & Lybrand Corp., Irvine, Ca. The newlyweds will live in San Marcos, Ca.

\ Schubert-Ellis

The marriage of Miss Elizabeth Sue Ellis, daughter of The Reverend Doctor and Mrs. James Welborn Ellis, Sr. of Ashland, Virginia, to Frederick Theodore Schubert, II, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald MacDowell Schubert of Doswell, Virginia took place July 9, 1994 at the First Baptist Church in Ashland, Virginia.

The bride's father, Pastor Emeritus of First Baptist Church, Ashland, officiated, assisted by her brother, The Reverend James Welborn Ellis, Jr. and sister-in-law, Ms. Katharine Courtright Dunn of Ne w York City. Ms. Lisa Dawn Barnett of Richmond was matron of honor. Mr. Schubert was his son's best man.

The reception was held at The Tuckahoe Woman's Club in Richmond.

After a wedding trip to Bermuda, the couple will make their home in Roanoke.

\ Sluss-Thomas

Jill Noelle Thomas and Jeffrey Duane Sluss were united in marriage July 9, 1994, at 4:00 p.m., at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Salem. The Reverend Olen Gardner, of Riner, officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Ray Thomas, Jr., of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Roanoke College and is employed by WJPR/WFXR FOX 21 FOX 27 TV.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Duane Sluss of Christiansburg. He attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Virginia Tech, and is employed by Engineering Design System and his own business, Blue Ridge Engineering and Design.

Jill was escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents. The maid of honor was Lisa Emory of Roanoke, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Michelle Brooks of Salem; Ann Henley of Birmingham, Ala., Teri Peters of Atlanta, Ga.; and Berkeley Wilson of Cary, NC., all friends of the bride.

The flower girl was Ashley Linkous of Christiansburg, friend of the bride and groom.

The best man was Orville Sluss, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Mark Bruce, Jeff Griffith, Todd Linkous, and John Stewart of Christiansburg, all friends of the groom. Ushers were Steven Finch of Roanoke, friend of the groom; and Justin Thomas, brother of the bride.

The ring bearer was Eric Finch of Roanoke, friend of the groom.

The guest book and programs were attended by Linda Lancaster, friend of the bride.

Hubert Firebaugh of Fincastle, friend of the bride, was the vocalist. Photography was by Barry Brooks.

The reception was held at the Holiday Inn Roanoke - Airport following the ceremony.

Following a wedding trip to Florida, the couple will make their home in Salem.

\ Wood-Harrison

Tina Fay Harrison and Glenn Royster Wood were married July 9, 1994, in Peters Creek Church of the Brethren with Rev. Paris E. Bain officiating. The reception was held at the church Fellowship Hall following the ceremony. The maid of honor was Terri Smith. Matron of honor was Michele Goacher. Bridesmaids were Tonya Janney, Sarah Hubbell, Karen Spencer and Kathryn Rhoads. Flowergirls were Leslie Wood, Meredith Wood and Erin Wood, nieces of groom. Raymond Wood, father of groom, served as best man. Ushers included Tony Wood, brother of groom, David Lipscomb, Rodney King, Stuart White and Lee Flora. Ringbearer was Steven Waskey, cousin of the bride. The bride is the daughter of Donna Alls and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Harrison of Roanoke. She graduated from William Fleming High School and from Bridgewater College. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wood of Chase City. He graduated from Bluestone High School and Gupton-Jones College, Atlanta, Ga. He is president of Wood Funeral Service, Inc., in Chase City. The newlyweds will live in Chase City, Virginia, after a wedding trip to Cozemul, Mexico.
