The ammunition blew up in the intense heat and "sounded like firecrackers going off," said Bennie Russell, fire marshal with the Franklin County Public Safety Department.
Paul Fix, who rented the trailer, was inside asleep when the fire started around 5:30 a.m. but managed to escape without injury when he was alerted by a smoke detector, Russell said. An electrical problem is believed to have caused the blaze.
Russell, an acquaintance of Fix, said Fix was a hunter.
