RELIGION BRIEFS

THE REV. MICHAEL CONN from Pulaski County began his work as pastor of Victory Baptist Church on Indiana Ave. in Roanoke on July 1.

He succeeds the Rev. H. R. Thompson, who has retired after 34 years due to poor health.

NORTHVIEW UNITED METHODIST CHURCH on Plantation Road at Ridgecrest Drive will hold vacation Bible school July 24-28 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

Classes will be held for nursery ages through adults and include an adult class taught by storyteller George Sanderson. There will be lessons, crafts, music and refreshments. Call Jean Reed at 362-8015 for more information.

A CONGREGATIONAL SING-A-LONG, sponsored by the Williamson Road area churches, will be held on Sunday at 7 p.m. in Preston Park. In case of rain, it will be inside Preston Recreation Center.

Special music will be provided by Lois Cruver-Goode, a music director at Boones Mill Church of Nazarene who recently recorded an album called ``One Voice.'' She sings contemporary and traditional music.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will be held at Penn Forest Christian Church for grades 6 through 12 on July 25-29 from 6:30 until 9 p.m.

Vacation Bible school for ages 3 through 11 will be held on Aug. 1-5 from 6:45 until 9 p.m., and a pre-registration fun day for these students is scheduled for July 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. Call the church office at 774-2445 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until noon for more details.
