Flower Show School

ROANOKE - The Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs Inc. is sponsoring a Flower Show School, Course I, Aug.14-17 at the Holiday Inn, Tanglewood.

The course will offer the following:

Flower show procedures: Sunday, Aug. 14, 7-9 p.m.

Design procedures: Monday, Aug. 15, 9 a.m.- 9 p.m.

Horticulture: Tuesday, Aug. 15, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.

Design and flower show procedure will be taught by Mrs. C.U. Phillips, Cranston, R.I. Horticulture will be taught by Professor James A. Faiszt of Blacksburg.

This is the first of five courses leading to an accredited judge of flower shows for the National Council of State Garden Clubs Inc. Those interested in becoming a judge are required to attend all lectures in order to take the examination.

Garden Club membership is not required for attending lectures.

Pageant planning|

CHRISTIANSBURG - Spot Light Studios is accepting entries for the national Miss American Dream Girl and Mr. Dream Guy pageant.

Contestants may range in age from 5 to 25 and may participate in four categories: beauty, talent, modeling or photogenic appeal. The event will be held at the Blacksburg Holiday Inn from Aug. 12 to 14. Contestants must register by July 29. the registration fee varies from $25 to $50 depending on the category entered.
