REPORTED EARNINGS

Crestar

Crestar Financial Corp. on Wednesday reported record second-quarter income of $42.6 million, or $1.12 a share, up 27 percent from the $33.7 million, or 88 cents, in the 1993 quarter.

For the half, income was $83.1 million, or $2.19 a share, up 28 percent from $64.6 million, or $1.71.

Loans at the end of June stood at $8.6 billion, compared with $8.2 billion at the end of March and $7.2 billion a year ago. At the end of the quarter, Crestar had deposits of $11.4 billion and assets of $14.3 billion.

Central Fidelity

Central Fidelity Banks Inc. reported second-quarter record earnings of $29.58 million, a jump of 12.4 percent from $26.32 a year ago. Income per share increased from 68 cents to 76 cents.

For six months, net income was $58.87 million, or $1.51 per share, up 16.7 percent from last year's $50.44 million, or $1.31.

Loans grew 27.3 percent to $5.36 billion. Deposits remained flat at $6.7 billion. The bank had assets on June 30 of $9.64 billion.

Park Communications

Park Communications Inc., Ithaca, N.Y., parent of WSLS-TV in Roanoke, reported second-quarter net income of $8 million, or 38 cents per share, compared with $5.4 million, or 26 cents, a year earlier. Revenues were $48.1 million, up from year-ago $44.2 million.

Revco

Revco D.S. Inc., Twinsburg, Ohio, operator of Revco drug stores, reported net income of $38.7 million, or 77 cents per share, for its fiscal year ended May 28, up from $14.2 million, or 35 cents, a year earlier. Sales were $2.50 billion compared with $2.24 billion in the 1993 fiscal year.

In its fourth quarter, Revco reported net income of $20.2 million, or 40 cents per share, compared with year-earlier $12.0 million or 24 cents. Sales were $815.5 million, up from $731.5 million.
