VARNEY FALLS IN SEMIFINAL

Salem's Nick Varney dropped a 3-and-2 decision to Chip Glover of Verona on Thursday in a semifinal of the 20th annual Bobby Bowers Memorial Junior Golf Tournament.

Miguel Rivera of Joppa, Md., defeated Glover 2 and 1 in the championship match at Springfield Golf and Country Club. Rivera beat G.W. Cable of Oakton 3 and 2 in the other semifinal.
