The Philanthropic Advisory Service of the Council of Better Business Bureaus maintains files on thousands of nonprofit organizations. When it conducted its most recent annual survey of the 222 most-asked-about charities, 89 percent provided financial information.

The Christian Broadcasting Network did not.
