Acampora-Davis

Christa Marie Davis and Ralph Acampora were married March 12, 1994 in St. Mark United Methodist Church, Atlanta, Ga. by Dr. Mike Cordle. The reception was held at Rhodes Hall. Attendants include: Caren Davis, sister of the bride, Kristie Workman, Kelly Davis, and Whitney Davis, sisters of the bride and Shawn Workman, brother of the bride.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. Charles Davis Jr. and Mrs. Frances Workman of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Hollins College and is completing a Ph.D. at Emory University. The bride is employed by Emory University. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Acampora of New York, N.Y., is a graduate of CUNY and Emory Univeristy. The bridegroom is employed by Emory University. The newlyweds will live in Atlanta, Ga. after the wedding trip to the Mediterranean.

\ Balderston-Brown

Kelly Marie Brown and James Victor Balderston were married July 2, 1994, in Vinton Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Ross officiating. The re ception was held at Vinton Baptist Church in the large dining room. The matron or honor was Kimberly Robertson, sister of the bride. The matron of honor was Tracy Fields-Ham, friend of the bride and groom. The bridesmaids was Dawn Case, sister of the groom. Junior bridesmaid was Jessica Balderston, sister of the groom. Father of the groom, Richard Balderston, served as best man along with Jay Robertson, brother-in-law of the bride and friend of the groom. The usher was John Moberg, friend of the groom. Ringbearer was Carl Balderston, son of the groom. The guestbook was attended by Bethany Davis, cousin of the bride. The bride is the daughter of Thomas R. Brown and Judy Deaton Brown of Roanoke. She graduated from William Byrd High School and attends Dominion Business School. She is employed by Revco. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Balderston of Vinton. He graduated from Staunton River High School and is employed by Contractor Yard, Inc. The newlyweds will live in Roanoke.

Laura Lee Woodford and Michael Alan Cates were married July 16, 1994, at 2:00 p.m. in Mentow Baptist Church, Huddleston, Va., with Doctor Herbert O. Browning, Jr., of Culpeper Baptist Church, Culpeper, Va., and the Reverend Daren J. Davis, Mentow Baptist Church, Huddleston, Va., officiating. The reception was held at Huddleston Elementary School. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Russell Woodford of Huddleston, Va. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L. Cates of Charlotte, N. C. The matron of honor was Chere Nichols, Radford, Va., and the maid of honor was Andrea Marshall, Moneta, Va. Bridesmaids were Ellen Blankenship, cousin of the bride, Bedford, Va., Catherine Tanner, Goldsboro, N. C., and Charla Woodford, Huddleston, Va. Father of the groom, Kenneth L. Cates, served as best man. Ushers included Jeffrey Cates, brother of the groom, Charlotte, N. C., Christopher Cates, brother of the groom, Charlotte, N. C., Jeffery Carr, Vinton, Va., and Brian Woodford, Huddleston, Va. The flower girl was Laura Auten, cousin of the bride, Mooresville, N. C., and the ring bearer was Daniel Mari, cousin of the bride, Huddleston, Va. Organist was Mrs. Ellen N. Mitchell, Huddleston, pianist Mrs. Bonnie Wooldridge, Huddleston, flutist Denise Howell, Charlottesville, guitarist Kent Brown, Gretna, and soloist Tommy Woodford, Roanoke. The bride is a graduate of Staunton River High School and is a student at Coastal Carolina Community College currently working as the Recreation Director at Holiday Travel Park, Emerald Isle, N. C. The groom is a graduate of Cave Spring High School. He is a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps stationed at Camp LeJeune, Jacksonville, N. C. The newlyweds will live in Jacksonville, N. C.

\ Childress-Stone

Pamela W. Stone and Christopher K. Childress were united in marriage on July 15, 1994 in a candlelight ceremony in the Smoky Mountain Wedding Chapel in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

The bride is the daughter of Jimmy and Jeanette Williams of Christiansburg. The groom is the son of Warren and Diane Childress of Grundy.

The couple will reside in Christiansburg after their stay in the Smoky Mountains.

\ Day-Stone

Mary A. Stone announces the marriage of her daughter, Geraldine Lashawn Stone to 0S3 Daryl Christopher Day of the U.S. Navy. The couple were married on April 29, 1994 in Honolulu, Hi Island of Oahu. A honeymoon followed on the Island of Maui. The groom is from Chicago, Ill. and the bride is from Roanoke. She is a graduate of William Fleming.

\ Ellis-Smith

Robyn Elizabeth Smith and David Wayne Ellis were married July sixteenth at the Rex W. Mook residence in Salem. Elizabeth Stokes officiated. Attending their sister as matron and maid of honor, respectively, were Kay Snead Mook of Salem and Jennifer Smith of New Haven, Connecticut. The bridesmaids were Karen Appleyard of Davidson, North Carolina, and Tiffany Speaks of Roanoke, both friends of the bride, and Cathy Grubb Smith of Salem, sister-in-law of the bride. Alisa Mook was junior bridesmaid, and Emily Mook was the flower girl, both are nieces of the bride. Robyn was given in marriage by her brother, Richard M. Smith of Salem.

E. Wayne Ellis of Roanoke was his son's best man. Groomsmen were Gary Hurt of Rocky Mount, brother of the groom, Chris Conner of Salem, Blake Lilly of Roanoke, and Greg Thomasson of Harrisonburg, all friends of the groom.

The reception was held at Hidden Valley Country Club where Jennifer and Alisha Hurt, nieces of the groom, attended the guestbook. The cake was served by JoAnn Hopkins of Clifton Forge and Janie Jeffries of Salem, aunts of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of the late Robert F. Smith and Shelby H. Smith of Salem. She graduated from Salem High School and the University of Virginia. The bridegroom is the son of E. Wayne and Anna Ellis of Roanoke. He graduated from Salem High School and Virginia Tech.

After their honeymoon trip to Hilton Head Island, the couple will live in Richmond where David is pursuing a graduate degree.

\ Felty-Nelson

Hunter Ross Nelson and Danny Walker Felty were married Saturday, July 16, 1994, at five-thirty in Second Presbyterian Church with Dr. William Klein and Rev. Lawrence Dodson officiating. There was a garden reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. Marshall Mundy.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clay Nelson III of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and is attending Virginia Commonwealth University.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Wayne Felty of Roanoke. He is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and the Virginia Military Institute. He will be attending the Medical College of Virginia.

Miss Kim Eubank served as the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Heather Lynn Felty, Ashley Mikell Monahan, Caroline Elizabeth Starr, and Amy Elizabeth Swann, all of Roanoke, Virginia and Allison Page Money of High Point, North Carolina.

Mr. Danny Wayne Felty of Roanoke, Virginia, father of the groom, served as the best man. The groomsmen were Mr. Nathaniel Rogers Felty, Mr. Henry Clay Nelson IV, and Mr. Sean Goldsmith, all of Roanoke, Virginia, Mr. Scott Addison McCoy of Milledgeville, Georgia and Mr. Andrew Joseph Mulcunry of Richmond, Virginia.

Master Taylor Chance Nelson, brother of the bride, served as ring bearer and the flower girls were Miss Katherine Ross Money, Miss Natalie Jenice Mundy and Miss Jesse Elizabeth Nelson.

The bride was escorted by her father and wore an heirloom gown of antique ivory silk taffeta. She carried a bouquet of calla lillies.

After a wedding trip to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Richmond, Virginia.

\ Ford-Cundiff

``Dance on the clouds, plant your feet in reality and your dreams together will touch the sky!'' This being their heartfelt belief, Ann Cundiff and David Ford wish to announce their marriage which took place at their home in Roanoke County on Sunday, May 15, 1994. The ceremony, witnessed by their families, was officiated by Dr. Carl Douglass, pastor of Main Street United Methodist Church in Bedford. Mrs. Cundiff-Ford is the daughter of Barbara Cundiff and Jason C. Cundiff, Sr., deceased, of Rocky Mount. Mr. Ford is the son of Jaunita and James Hall of Roanoke and Bobby Ford, deceased, of Roanoke. Miss Heather Ford, the groom's niece, attended the couple as flower girl and daughter of the bride, Jackie Saul, was her mother's maid of honor. Serving as best men for the groom were his nephew, Michael Ford, and his stepfather, Jim Hall. The groom's parents entertained with a reception and dinner at The Homeplace following the nuptials. Both Mr. and Mrs. Ford are employed with Optical Cable Corporation in Roanoke.

\ Fuller-Wykle

Rebecca Ellen Wykle and Scott Daniel Fuller were married on Saturday, July 16, 1994 at Lakeside Baptist Church. The candlelight ceremony was officiated by Rev. Art Hearne. The reception was held at Holiday Inn-Airport. The maid of honor was Kimberly Lukehart, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Shawn Robertson, niece of the groom; Diana Pray, and Patricia Delp, friends of the bride. The junior bridesmaid was Lindsey Robertson, niece of the groom. The best man was Percy D. Fuller, father of the groom. The groomsmen were Brandon Wykle, brother of the bride; Robert Altizer, Richard Clark, and Jamie Delong, friends of the groom. The guest book attendant was Lisa Erazo, friend of the bride. Norma Pray Pilarski, friend of the family, directed the wedding.

The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a Victorian style gown of white bridal satin with a high wedding band collar and gigot sleeves. From a fitted waist fell a full skirt and train; the gown was accented with pearls and iridescents; a full bow accented the Basque waistline at the back which flowed to an extended chapel train of cut-outs accented with pearls and iridescents.

Rebecca carried a bouquet of calla lilies with a full cascade of dendrium orchids and greenery.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. Merle Wykle and Mrs. Maura T. Wykle of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Northside High School, Virginia Western Community College, and will be graduating from Radford University in the Spring.

The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy D. Fuller of Roanoke. He is a graduate of Northside High School and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He is a flight instructor for Piedmont Aviation. The couple will reside in Roanoke after a wedding trip to Hawaii.

\ Harmon-Wente

Ellen Maura Wente and Scott Whitney Harmon were married June 18, 1994, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Nazareth Church, Roanoke, with Reverend Kenneth Stofft, pastor of Our Lady of Nazareth, officiating. A wedding luncheon was held after the ceremony. The maid of honor was Miss Anne Weybright of Charlottesville, Va. The best man was Mr. George F. Marino III of Alexandria, Va. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John A. Wente of Bedford, Va. She graduated from The College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, and received an MLS degree from UNC, Chapel Hill, N. C. She is employed by Roanoke City Schools. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry P. Harmon of Tampa, Fla. He graduated from the University of Virginia and is employed by Home Health Care. The newlyweds will live in Roanoke following a wedding trip to Isle of Palms, S. C.

\ Hemphill-Thornhill

Katherine Joanna Thornhill and Ralph Hayes Hemphill, III were married June 16, 1994 at Christ Lutheran Church, Roanoke, Virginia. The Reverend Dr. George K. Bowers officiated at the 6:00 p.m. candlelight ceremony. The reception was held at the Jefferson Club.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. John Elbert Thornhill of Roanoke, Virginia, and the late Mr. John Elbert Thornhill. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hayes Hemphill, Jr. of Towson, Maryland.

The bride wore an off the shoulder, white gown by Jim Hjelm with a pearl and sequin alencon lace bodice and a chapel length, taffeta train. Her double, finger tip length veil was attached to a pearl-beaded headband. She carried a cascading bouquet of phalenophsis orchids, white roses, stephanotis, and mini carnations.

Amy Lee Thornhill Pakula served as her sister's matron of honor. The bride's brother-in-law, Jonathan H. Pakula, escorted her down the aisle. The honor attendant was Cynthia Romo of Studio City, California, friend of the bride.

The groom's brother, Hunter Smith Hemphill of Washington, D.C., served as the best man. The ushers were Wesley J. Moore of Seattle, Washington; Herman B. Moyers arriving from Poland, and Dennis L. Pabst of Towson, Maryland, all friends of the groom.

Mrs. Hemphill graduated with honors from North Cross School and Randolph-Macon Woman's College receiving her B.A. degree in Economics and Communication/Art. She also holds an M.B.A. from the College of William and Mary, School of Business Administration. She has been working in commercial real estate development in Los Angeles, California.

Mr. Hemphill received his B.A. degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also holds an M.B.A. from the College of William and Mary, School of Business Administration. He is a project development manager for Pankow Development, Inc. of Altadena, California, and is at present managing the company's southeastern United States operations in Atlanta.

The couple will be honeymooning on Guana Island, a private island in the British Virgin Islands. After their wedding trip, they will live in Atlanta, Georgia.

Houston-Green

Sandra Denise Green and William Keith Houston both of Blacksburg, were united in marriage June 25, 1994, 5:00 p.m., at the Virginia Tech War Memorial Chapel. The Rev. James P. Beatty of Roanoke, Virginia performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Ms. Aldora Keys Green and Mr. Edward W. Green, both of Blacksburg. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Houston of Rural Retreat, Va.

The bride was given in marriage by her father and mother. Ms. Joyce A. Moody of Kennewick, Washington, was the maid of honor, and the honor attendant was Mrs. Connie Green Blair of Alpharetta, Ga., both sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Miss Karla Moody of Kennewick, Washington, niece of the bride; Miss Tina Houston and Mrs. Angela Nowlin of Christiansburg, both sisters of the groom; Mrs. Cynthia McReynolds of Washington, D.C.; and Miss Rebecca Deisher of Blacksburg.

Flower girl was Miss Wilma Cundiff of Blacksburg.

Best man was Mr. George Houston, Jr.. of Wytheville. The groomsmen were Mr. Donnell Houston of Wytheville; Mr. Boyd Houston; Mr. Vince Houston, both of Blacksburg, and all cousins of the groom; Mr. Keith Blair of Alpharetta, Ga., brother-in-law of the bride; Mr. Donald E. Moody of Kennewick, Washington, nephew of the bride; and Mrs.. Tracy Nowlin of Christiansburg, brother-in-law of the groom.

Ring bearer was Mrs. Derek Nowlin, nephew of the groom.

The wedding was directed by Mrs. Jacqueline Eaves and Mrs. Naomi Wilson. Hostesses were Lisa Houston, Lori Johnson, and Mrs. Rebecca Ford.

A reception was given by the parents of the bride at the University Club.

The bride attended New River Community College and is a graduate of ATI Hollywood School of Hairdesign in Salem, Vi rginia.

The groom is a graduate of Rural Retreat High School and is an employee of Hercules, Inc., Radford, Virginia.

After a honeymoon at Freeport, Bahamas, the couple will reside in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Janney-Sheffey

Lori Paige Sheffey and Steve Janney were married July 2, 1994 in a candlelight ceremony at Oak Grove Church of the Brethren in Roanoke. Rev. Calvin McILroy officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Ralph and Sarah Sheffey of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Cave Spring High School.

The groom is the son of Chester and Evelyn Janney of Floyd. He is a graduate of Floyd Co. High School and New River Community College and is employed by Graham-White of Salem.

The maid of honor was Jodi Sheffey, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Rhonda Balmer, cousin of the bride; Amy Nicolai, Lori Crawford, and Michele Robertson, all friends of the bride. Flowergirl was Jasmine Holland, friend of the bride. The bride wore a white satin gown with pearls and lace, and carried a bouquet of red roses. The bridemaids wore black tea-length dresses and carried a single red rose.

The best man was Chester Janney, father of the groom. The groomsmen were Robert Janney, brother of the groom; Matt Sheffey, brother of the bride; Darryl Vest and Stewart Shank, friends of the groom. Ringbearer was Jordan Taylor Balmer, cousin of the bride.

Guestbook attendant was Tami Wyatt, friend of the bride. Program attendants were Darren and Stephanie Goad, niece and nephew of the groom. Scripture reading was by Clestine Taylor, grandmother of the bride. Soloist and pianist was Jeff Hill, friend of the bride.

The reception and celebration was held at the American Legion in Salem, Va. The guests were entertained with music from the band ``Festus Gunslinger''.

The newlyweds will reside in Floyd, Va.
