CELEBRATIONS - ANNIVERSARIES

Hansen anniversary

Martin and Beulah Hansen celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Thursday. They were married July 14, 1934 in Charleston, W. Va. and spent much of their married life in York, Pa. They have lived in Roanoke since 1989. The Hansen's children are John and Gladys Shaw of Milton, Del. and John and Ruth DeVerter of Roanoke. The couple have four grandchildren.

Harris anniversary

Marvin J. and Lula Belcher Harris celebrated their 50th anniversary on July 1, 1994. The celebration was held at East Radford Church of God and was hosted by the Lady's Auxillary as a surprise. The couple was married July 1, 1944, in Floyd, Va. Mrs. Harris is the former Lula Belcher of Meadows of Dan. The couple's children are Euona Helms, Meadows of Dan, Roger Harris, Fredericksburg, Hettie Webb, Belspring, and Barbara Luckado, Radford. They have eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One special grandson Allen Hopkins is in the Navy stationed in Italy. They have three stepgrandchildren. The Harris' have lost one son, Dale Harris. Mr. Harris is retired from Atlantic Concrete and Mrs. Harris is a housewife and retired babysitter. They belong to East Radford Church of God.

\ Lawrence anniversary

Roman and Mary Lou Lawrence celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary June 11, 1994. The celebration was hosted by their son, Leland and O'Neal and their wives. The couple were married June 23, 1934.

\ Sawyers anniversary

Claude K. and Helen D. Sawyers celebrated their 50th anniversary on July 3, 1994. The celebration was held at the home of Mrs. Lacie Walters, sister of Mrs. Sawyers, in Ellett and was hosted by their family. The couple was married July 11, 1944, in Radford and have lived in Montgomery County for 50 years. Mrs. Sawyers is the former Helen M. Doyle. The couple have a son, Roger K. Sawyers of Richmond and a daughter, Sue S. Merrill of Greenville, S. C. They have six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Sawyers is retired from the RAAP. The couple reside in Sherwood Forest in Christiansburg
