Answers

1. Though Denny Martin Flynn and director Nicholas Meyer co-wrote the screenplay, it was Leonard Nimoy, the film's executive producer, who came up with the idea of the perestroika metaphor.

2. It was ``For the World Is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky,'' one of the better third-season episodes, which aired in 1968.

3. Believe it or not, it was the face of Armin Shimerman, who played several ``Next Gen'' Ferengi and, of course, now portrays Quark on ``Deep Space Nine.''

4. She was listed as ``missing in action.'' (Thanks to Bill Clarke of Cherry Hill, N.J. for this question.)

5. The Reliant.

6. It showed Miles O'Brien (Colm Meaney) drinking coffee in the late afternoon, something he never does.

7. The ubiquitous Peter David wrote ``Q-Squared,'' which is now available in hardcover from Pocket Books.

8. It's the Romulan unit of measure for pressure, as revealed in the ``Next Gen'' episode ``The Next Phase.'' (Thanks to Marilyn Marks of Atlanta.)

9. It was, appropriately enough, the ``Progress'' episode.

10. Janos Prohaska.

11. Prohaska again. In fact, Prohaska also designed and built the Horta costume for the episode.

12. Prohaska yet again.

This is a bit of a trick question. Prohaska played the rock creature, but its voice was provided by Bart LaRue.

The creature was never referred to by name in the episode but was called Yarnek in the script.
