COLEMAN, Josie Nunn, 89, of Rt. 5 Stuart, Va., died Tuesday at the Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem, Va. She was born in Patrick County to the late John Nunn and the late Louvinna Lawson Nunn. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Coleman; and her son, James Edward Coleman. Survivors are: one daughter, Edith C. Branscome, of Roanoke, Va.; one sister, Gladys Hager of Kannapolis, N.C.; two grandchildren, Vicki Bowers of Danville, Va., and Donnie Branscome of Roanoke, Va.; one great-grandson, Joshua Bowers of Danville, Va. A graveside service will be held Friday, 2 p.m. July 22, 1994, at Patrick Memorial Gardens in Stuart. The family will receive friends at the graveside of Mrs. Coleman's. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is handling the funeral arrangements.

CONNER, Olie Lee Jr., 61, of Salem, died Monday, July 18, 1994. He was employed with GE Drive Systems for 39 years. He is survived by his wife, Daisy Taliaferro Conner; sons and daughter-in-law, Scott and Sharon M. Conner, Salem, Neil Conner, Salem; grandsons, Christopher Conner and Andrew Conner; sisters and brothers-in-law, Georgia Brumfield, Salem, Irene and Earnest Johnson, Christiansburg, Vivian and Tom Martin, Salem, Jean and Roger Hedge, St. Petersburg, Fla.; mother-in-law, Ruby G. Taliaferro, Salem. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Hutchins officiating. FARMER, Gordon C., 94, of Cedar Bluff, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 1994 in a Richlands hospital fo llowing a long illness. A native of Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Charles C. and Callie Belle Smith Farmer. He was a graduate of V.P.I. and was a Vocational Agriculture instructor for 39 years, retiring in 1965. He was the owner and operator of the Garden Farmer's Greenhouses in Cedar Bluff for 50 years. He served on the Tazewell County Board of Supervisors for 4 years and served on the Cedar Bluff Town Council for 18 years. During World War II, he served as the Chairperson of the Tazewell County Red Cross and supervised the County War Production School of Welding and Aircraft Sheet Metal and Riveting and the County Food Cannery. He was a charter member and past president of the Richlands Kiwanis Club with 56 years of service and was a member of the Mountain View United Methodist Church in Dublin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Estelle Steele Farmer. He is survived by one daughter, Fran G. Farmer, of Cedar Bluff; one brother, Charles C. Farmer, of Newbern; five sisters, Mrs. Maxine Smith, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Mrs. Toy Miller, of Rural Retreat, Mrs. Hazel Armbrister, of Dublin, Miss Julia Farmer, of Newbern, Mrs. Connie Manger, of Port Orange, Fla. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the Singleton Funeral Chapel, Cedar Bluff with Dr. Curtis Fussell officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 1994, at the Highland Memorial Mausoleum, Dublin. Pallbearers will be Bob Nassif, Fayne Stacy, T.A. Lowe, M.H. Lowe, Jr., Louis Hunter, Henry A. Cole and Sunny Elswick. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Richlands Kiwanis Club. Friends may call at the Singleton Funeral Service, Cedar Bluff after 6 p.m. Wednesday.

JONES, Phillip Matthew, of Roanoke, died July 18, 1994. Phillip is the infant son of Richard and Paula Jones. Also surviving are his sister, Sarah Alexis Jones; paternal grandparents, Richard L. Sr. and Barbara Jones, of Roanoke; maternal grandparents, Lyle and Frances Robson of Roanoke. LANIER, Robert Wayne, 47, of Buena Vista, died Monday, July 18, 1994 at his residence. He was born July 26, 1947 in Danville. A son of Willie Edwin Lanier, Jr. and Ruth Savage Lanier of Buena Vista. Mr. Lanier was an attorney in the Buena Vista area for the last four years and was a member of the State Bar Assoc. He was a veteran of Vietnam, serving two tours, being discharged September 18, 1975 as a Captain with the U.S. Army. He received the distinguishing Flying Cross with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart, the Air Metal and Vietnam Ribbon. Surviving in addition to his parents are one daughter, Leigh Dell Lanier, Ozark, Al.; one brother, Willie Edwin Lanier, III, Buena Vista; tw o nieces, Tara and Felicia Lanier. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 1994, at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. W. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery with Military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #126. Memorial donations may be made to the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church or the Victory Baptist Church in Buena Vista. LOGAN, Alice Burnell Cadd, 64, of Bonifay, Fla., died Sunday, July 17, 1994. Formerly of Roanoke, she was a daughter of the late Charlie W. Cadd. Mrs. Logan was a charter member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God. Surviving are her husband, Thomas F. Logan; mother, Annie Donavant Cadd, Vinton; brother and sister-in-law, Harold T. and Sandra Cadd, Lubbock, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris C. Selkirk, Roanoke, Betty C. and Ray Brizendine, Vinton, Carolyn C. and Jody Wooldridge, Lubbock, Texas, Peggy C. and Danny Daniels, Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; stepdaughter, Debbie Talley, Yadkinville, N.C; stepgrandchildren, Eric Talley and Dustin Talley. MOTLEY, Randy Lee, 34, of Salem, died Tuesday, July 19, 1994. He was a respiratory therapist at Bowman Gray Hospital. He is preceded in death by stepfather, Jack E. Ferrell. Survivors include his mother, Lera O. Ferrell; father and stepmother, James H. and Thelma L. Motley; brother and sister-in-law, Ricky James and Estella Motley; sister and brother-in-law, Michelle and Jim Dickenson; grandparents, E. T. and Rowena Mottley; nephew and niece, Joshua Jacob Motley, Jessica Jacoba Motley; devoted companion and pet, Elizabeth; also a host of love ones and friends. SPRINKLE, Stewart L., 76, of Marion, died Sunday, July 17, 1994 at the Lake Placid Medical Center. He was born in Marion and was the son of the late Robert Shield Sprinkle Sr. and Effie Thompson Sprinkle. He had been a resident o f Lake Placid, Fla. for the past twenty-eight years moving from Eustis, Fla. He was a graduate of the Marion High School, attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and and the University of Florida in Gainesville. He was a United States WW II Army Veteran, retired golf professional at the Placid Lakes Country Club in Lake Placid, Fla. and helped build the golf course. He was also an agronomist, member of the Lutheran Church in Marion, life member of the Professional Golf Association, charter member of the Lake Placid Rotary Club and a member of the Lake Placid Elks Lodge #2661 and the Lake Placid Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Mary Sprinkle of Lake Placed, Fla.; one daughter, Mary S. Rush of Clewiston, Fla.; one brother, Allen Sprinkle of San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Henrietta Johnson of Andersonville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Kristie Lynn Rush and Robert Stewart Oliver Rush, both of Clewiston, Fla.; eight nephews and four nieces. Memorial services will be held Friday, July 22, 1994 at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Edgar Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery. STUART, Dorothy Brooks, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, July 18, 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel H. Stuart, and only daughter, Dorothy Sam Stuart. Mrs. Stuart was a retired secretary of Lincoln Terrace School, and also secretary at the old Addison High School and Gainsboro School. Survivors include a devoted sister-in-law, Mrs. Bernice J. Stuart, Roanoke; two nieces, Mrs. Francis Brooks Edwards, Washington, D.C., and Ms. Debra Stuart, Waldorf, Md.; two nephews, Mr. Albert Brooks Sr., Washington, D.C., and Mr. Bernard Stuart, Aylette, Va. A very special friend, Mrs. Catherine Morris McCain, cousins and many friends. Funeral services will be Friday, 11 a.m. at 5th Avenue Presbyterian Churc h. Interment will be in Williams Memorial Park. The procession will assemble at the Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Constance J. SWANN, Ruby Weaver, 72, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 1994, in a local hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Swann was born February 20, 1922, in Rice, Virginia. She served as a civilian employee of the Strategic Air Command and worked throughout the Western States during World War II. Mrs. Swann was a member of the Villa Heights Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Arthur M. Swann Jr.; daughter, Margaret Swann, Roanoke; other survivors include Mr and Mrs R. L. Henderson of Vinton and their children, James, Barry and John Patrick. Funeral services will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Thursday, at Oakey's North Chapel by the Rev. Harold C. Lewis and the Rev. J. Landon Maddex. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
