NEW RIVER PEOPLE IN BUSINESS

WILLIAM "BUDDY" McCOY, owner and operator of the McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg since 1981, was named president of the Virginia Funeral Directors Association at a convention in Virginia Beach.

First National Bank of Christiansburg has appointed JOAN MUNFORD to its board of directors. Munford represented most of Montgomery and part of Giles counties in the House of Delegates for 12 years. She served on the Corporations, Insurance and Banking Committee and on the Small Business Division of the Labor and Commerce Committee.

The Giles County Chamber of Commerce named CAROL LAVINDER the 1993 Business Person of the Year. A real estate broker and owner of Lavinder Real Estate, she is the past president of the Pearisburg Merchants Association and has served on the Festival Around Town Committee for the last ten years.

DOT OGBURN is Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library's new coordinator for children's and young adult services. She will organize activities, collections and bookmobile services for the three branch libraries.

GERALD FAIN has opened an IDS Financial Services office in Blacksburg. Fain is a certified financial planner specializing in retirement, estate and tax planning for individuals and businesses

PHYLLIS ALBRITTON-WEBB, a financial consultant at the Blacksburg office of Wheat First Butcher Singer, received the 1994 James C. Wheat Jr. Community Service Award in recognition of her leadership in the Blacksburg community.

Home Health Plus, a department of Radford Community Hospital, announced two new appointments. TERRY TILLEY is the Hillsville nurse supervisor and ELISE HANSARD is the Christiansburg office's nurse supervisor.

The Blacksburg office of Draper Aden Associates announced that JEFF PACK is the new environmental technician. Pack will specialize in analytical chemistry.

DR. JAFAR NADER of Blacksburg completed continuing medical education requirements to retain active membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians. Academy members must complete 150 hours of accredited medical study every three years.
