AMOS, Leonard Leo, 81, of Boones Mill, died Tuesday, July 19, 1994, in a Roanoke hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Moore Amos. Surviving are his son, Samuel Kenneth Amos, Boones Mill; one brother, Raymond Amos, Boones Mill; two sisters, Mrs. Paul Turner, Boones Mill, Mrs. W. O. Nunley, Roanoke; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday at Flora Funeral Chapel with Rev. James H. Steele and Rev. J. Donald Abshire officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. Friends may call after 2 pm. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 :30 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 342 S. Main St., Rocky Mount.

BOWMAN, J. Walker, 76, of Riner, died Wednesday morning, July 20, 1994, at his home. He was retired as Manager of the Carnation Milk Plant. Surviving are his wife, Vivian T. Bowman; one daughter, Betty Jean Bowman, Riner; and three sisters, Carrie Spence of Dugspur, Lucy Thomas, Stuart, Nancy Mabry, Collinsville. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the gravesite in Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, conducted by the Rev. Walt Simmerman and the Rev. Daryl Joyce. The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Box 176, Christiansburg, Va. 24073. BOWMAN, James Walker, 76, of Riner, died early Wednesday, July 20, 1994, at his home. The funeral will be 11 a.m. today from the graveside in Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg. BRADFORD, Harold, (``Jim''), 74, of Christiansburg, passed away, Tuesday, July 19, 1994, at English Meadow Retirement Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Dulaney Bradford. Survivors include brother-in-law, Hugh Dulaney, Floyd; sister-in-law, Edith D. Akers, Quincy, Ill.; one niece; several nephews; cousins and a host of friends. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, with Dr. Raymond Allen and Rev. Carl Ratcliffe officiating. Burial will be in White Rock Cemetery. BROWN, Virginia Ruth, 84, of Bedford, died Wednesday, July 20, 1994 at Community Hospital. She was born in Rutherford, N. C. on June 20, 1910 a daughter of the late Gaither W. Branch and Nettie Lawter Branch. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie Boothe and her second husband, Lewis Daniel Brown and one son, Eugene Boothe. She is survived by four sons, Buford Lee Boothe, Bedford, William Boothe, Roanoke, Paul Boothe, Moneta, Donald Boothe, Goodview; one daughter, Shirley Gillespie, Roanoke; two sisters, Mildred Hancock, Mt. Mourne, N. C., Doris Williams, South Carolina; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a special thanks to Bonnie Boothe for being there. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 22, 1994 at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roy D. Trout officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. CISCO, Thelma E. 58, of Roanoke, died Monday, July 18, 1994 at Lewis Gale Hospital. She was born August 8, 1935, in Mingo County, W. Va. She was the daughter of the late, Charles Harrison Thomas and Annie Cisco Thomas. She is survived by one daughter, Vicki H. Phillips, Roanoke; four grandchildren, Charles, Joshua, Joseph, and Matthew; five sisters; and one brother. Graveside services will be at Evergreen Burial Park at 11 a.m. Friday. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Downtown Chapel, Roanoke, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

COLLINS, Kathleen Joyce, 57, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 1994. She was survived by her husband, Kenneth Collins; daughter and son-in-law, Cindi and Carl Cochran of Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Kem Collins, North Carolina; son, Steven Collins, Roanoke; sister, Helen McHone, Roanoke; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Bonnie Weeks, Roanoke; sisters-in-law Jean Weeks and Marie Reynolds; three granddaughters; two grandsons; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 22, 1994, at Lotz Roanoke Chapel, with the Rev. Bruce Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. ELVIN, George B., 81, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, July 19, 1994. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Polly) Elvin; he was retired from the N & W Railway. Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Tom W. and Aleta T. Elvin of Lynchburg; two sisters, Louvenia Lee of Daleville and Elizabeth Jackson of Bridgewater; also are five nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at Evergreen Burial Park, 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. John Divers officiating. Arrangements are by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

FLORA, Bruce Harmon Rev., 83, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, July 19, 1994, at Friendship Manor. A 25 year resident of Roanoke and Cloverdale. He was born in Washington, D.C. His life work, after teaching, butchering, and printing, was as a minister with the Church of The Brethren. He held pastorates at the Summit Church, near Harrisonburg, Va.; Roanne, Ind.; Reedley, Calif.; Okeechobee, Fla.; Imperial Heights in Los Angeles, Calif.; Tonasket, Wash.; Tocoma Wash. and Cloverdale, Va. In his retirement he served as interim pastor to several SW Virginia congregations. From 1960 to 1971 he was the executive secretary for the churches Pacific Northwest District, providing services and management to the churches of Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Western Canada. Rev. Flora was a graduate of Bridgewater College and he received his Master of the Divinity degree from Bethany Theological Seminary in Chicago, where he also met his wife, the late Dorothy Shirky Flora. He is survived by a daughter, Wanda Flora, Basking Ridge, N.J.; son and daughter-in-law, Maurice and Aletrice Flora, Claremont, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Charles Smith, Mount Sidney; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Hollis and Eloise Flora, Camden, S.C., Edgar and Frances Flora, Bridgewater; Mark and Nellie Flora, Grottoes; sister-in-law, Lena Flora, Bridgewater (wife of the late Harold Flora); grandchildren, Don Flora, LaVerne, Calif., Ginger and Les Auten, Alta Loma, Calif.; a great-grandson, Brody Auten. His son and daughter requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Summerdean Church of the Brethren, 6604 Plantation Rd., Roanoke, Va. 24019. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Summerdean Church of the Brethren by Dr. Owen G. Stultz and the Rev. James R. Worline. Interment will follow in Daleville Cemetery. HALE, Fred Terry, 78, of Route 1, Dublin, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 1994 in the Pulaski Community Hospital. Born April 15, 1916 in Cripple Creek, Va., he was the son of the late Jim Hale and Betty Lowe Hale. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce Hale and Hylton Hale. He was a member of the Mt. View United Methodist Church, Dublin. He was the former owner and operator of Hale Boatel, Claytor Lake, and also owner of the Hale Real Estate Company, Dublin until his retirement. Surviving are his wife, Ozelle Mamie Kincer Hale; one son, Fred Terry Hale, Jr., Dublin; four grandchildren, Tammy Roland, Greensboro, N.C., Troy Hale, Dublin, Bryan Hale, Dublin, Mark Hale, Dublin; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Margie Crockett, Cripple Creek, Mrs. Bertha Davis, Cripple Creek. Funeral service will be held Friday, July 22, 1994, 10:30 a.m. at the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with the Rev. Barry L. Taylor officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Dublin. MCCLUNG, Jenning Wayne, 53, of Christiansburg, died Wednesday, July 20, 1994, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was preceded in death by his mother, Leota G. McClung. He is survived by his son, Darren Wayne McClung, Raleigh, N.C.; his father, James Hunter ""Mac"" McClung, Christiansburg; one brother, James E. McClung, Blacksburg. McREYNOLDS, Elizabeth Hancock, 81, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, July 20, 1994. She was the widow of Harry Dodge McReynolds. STRUM, Ethel Travis, 94, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 1994. She was the widow of George W. Strum. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas H. and Libby Strum of Roanoke; granddaughter, Tommie Karla and Andy Chambers of Herndon; grandsons, Richard Strum and Michael Strum both of Roanoke; great-granddaughters, Samantha Chambers of Herndon, Allie Strum of Roanoke; stepgrandchildren, Sharon and Buck Harris, Dusty Saunders and Lisa and Brian Crockett all of Roanoke; stepgreat-grandson, Chad Harris of Roanoke.
