BERGER, Frank Warren, 80, of Gretna, died Saturday, July 23, 1994. Services 11 a.m. Monday, Colbert-Moran Chapel.

BROWN, Page Glenwood, (P.G.), 50, of Botetourt County, passed away Saturday, July 23, 1994 at his home. He was a former employee of the Norfolk Southern East End Shops. Surviving are his wife, Elsie M. Glass Brown; daughter and son-in-law, Dona L. and Donald L. Brickey Sr., Catawba; grandchildren, Amber M. Brickey, Donald L. Brickey II; mother, Lula Richards Brown, Roanoke; brothers, Clyde, Alfred and Wayne Brown, all of Roanoke; Amos Brown, Big Island; sisters, Alma (Vip) Nunley, Carolyn English Barr, both of Roanoke. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 3825 Electric Road, Suite 8, Roanoke, Va. 24018 or the Hollins Rescue Squad. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday at Oakey's North Chapel by the Rev. James M. Jennings. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. CEPHAS, Malinda C., 81, of Lexington, passed away Friday, July 22, 1994 in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She was the owner and proprietor of a local grocery store in Lexington. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Adina Greene, Washington, D.C., and Dr. Mabel Pittman, Jackson, Mi. She is also survived by one niece, four nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 1994 at 1 pm. in the Randolph Street United Methodist Church, Lexington, Va., with the Rev. Willie Butler officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at 12 noon Tuesday. Friends may also pay their respects on Monday from 7 to 8 pm. at the Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home in Roanoke.

CRAWFORD, Mary Ella, 80, of Rural Retreat, died late Friday, July 22, 1994, in the Smyth County Community Hospital. She is survived by one sister, Hazel Anders, Speedwell; two brothers, Robert Lee (Joe) Crawford, Harland (Pat) Crawford, both of Rural Retreat. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 25, 1994, at the Lindsey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buford W. Hankins officiating. HALE, Clarence B., 77, of Salem, passed away Friday, July 22, 1994. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shelbie and Farrell Conley; grandchildren, Farrell and Cheryl Connley, Randall Conley; great grandchildren, Jacob, Erika, Cassandra and Alexsandra; brothers, W. HALL, Susan Virginia Archer, 78, of Fries, died Friday, July 22, 1994, in Waddell Nursing Home. Surviving are her three daughters, Pauline Jones, Denton, N.C., Corlois Lewis, Winston Salem, N.C., Sue Ogle, Galax; one son, Argell Hall, Ashboro, N.C.; a brother, Lestle Archer, Fries; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. JOHNSON, Ethel Crouse, 83, of Roanoke, passed Friday, July 22, 1994 in a local hospital. Formerly of Wytheville, she was the widow of Willis McTeer Johnson. Surviving are two sons, Willis O. Johnson, James R. Johnson, both of Wytheville; two daughters, Cynthia J. Atkins, Pulaski, Kathy H. Ritchie, Roanoke; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur Crouse, Orlando, Fla.; Richard Crouse, Galax. McMANAWAY, Julius Lynwood, (Jiggs), 79, of Route 2, Vinton, passed peacefully away Saturday, July 23, 1994. He was born on December 13, 1914 in the Community of Union in Bedford County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius Larry and Frances Holdren McManaway. Mr. McManaway was a retired lineman for Appalachian Power Company. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Moles McManaway; daughters and sons-in-law, Frances M. (Betsy) Franklin, Mary Alice M. and Terry G. Howell Sr., Linda M. and Harford Gardner; grandchildren, Keith Franklin and wife, Karen, John Franklin, Terry Howell Jr. and wife, Melissa, Timothy L. Howell, Warren Gardner, Leigh Anne Gardner; two great-grandso ns, Travis L. Howell and Justin Howell; special brother-in-law and wife, Bernard and Mary Moles; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Lee Chattin and the Rev. Dennis E. Moore officiating. Interment will be in the Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery in Chamblissburg. MORRIS, Eleanor Grayson Fitzhugh, 78, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, July 21, 1994 in a local hospital. She was a daughter of the late, Dr. William D. and Bessie Fitzhugh. Mrs. Morris was the widow of Charles E. Morris. She was a retired Postmaster from the U. S. Postal Service, Ashland, W. Va. Surviving are one son, Charles E. Morris II, Vienna, Va.; one daughter, Barbara M. Early, Rockville, Md.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Bess Oliff, St. Louis, Mo., Celeste (Tess) Klose, Raleigh, N. C., Roberta Burns, Jackson, Miss., Jeanne Atkinson, Kingsport, Tenn.; one brother, Dave Fitzhugh, Roanoke. OWENS, Katherine Cornelius Norris, 82, of Wilmington, N.C., died Thursday, July 21,1994. Mrs. Owens was born in Kent County, Md., on January 2, 1912, and resided in Roanoke, Va., with her husband, Dr. Richard S. Owens Jr., for more than 40 years preceding his death in 1985. She was a graduate of Church Home Infirmary School of Nursing in Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Owens is survived by her daughter, Mary Owens Daitz, Albuquerque, N.M.; her son, Richard S. Owens III, Wilmington, N.C.; four grandchildren, Ian Daitz, Tim Daitz, both of Albuquerque, N.M., Joseph M. Owens, Jessica C. Owens, both of Wilmington, N.C. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Roanoke, Va.

PETERS, Herman Ezra, 74, of Roanoke and formerly of Floyd passed away Saturday, July 23, 1994 at his home. He was a member of Colonial Avenue Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War 11. Survivors include wife, Clella Gillespie Peters, Roanoke; two sons an d daughters-in-law, Garfield Peters, Moneta, Kendall and Gail Peters, Roanoke; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Travis Martin, Bassett; three grandsons, Robert G. WOODS, Hiawatha J., 68, of Roanoke, died in a Salem Hospital on Thursday, July 21, 1994. He was a World War II veteran and later retired from Hechts Department Store. He was a member of First Baptist Church, N. Jefferson St. Survivors include his wife, Frances N. Woods; daughter and son-in-law, Belinda N. and Charles L. Redd; two granddaughters, Stephanie N. Woods and Linda C. Redd; father-in-law, James R. Hampton; eight sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives. A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, July 26, 1994, 1 p.m., at the Williams Memorial Park.
