PENNINGTON LEADS ALL THE WAY AT FCS

Frankie Pennington and his Ford are in a groove. And they're not ready to give it up.

Pennington won the 75-lap Late Model Stock Car feature race of the National Pistol Association 300 at Franklin County Speedway on Saturday night. For the second consecutive week, Pennington led the entire race.

Pennington, who built his reputation racing on a dirt track at Natural Bridge, relied on his experience Saturday night.

``About halfway through the race tonight, my car got real loose on me,'' Pennington said. ``On dirt, you learn how to adapt to that.''

Rodney Cundiff, a 10-time winner this season, finished second.

Points leader Dudley Lawhorn, Steve Lynch, and Carl Dadian placed 3-4-5.

The victory was Pennington's third of the month and moved him into seventh place in the points race.

In other races Saturday night:

Steve Lam overtook pole-sitter and second-place finisher Gary Joyce on the 10th lap of the Mini Stock competition, coasting to his 16th win this season. Gary Clifton finished third, passing Tommy Dean, who lost power on the last lap.

Street Stock points leader Mike Dudley won for the second consecutive week. David Smith finished second, one spot ahead of Bill Bratton.

In the caution-filled Pure Stock class, Greg Tester won for the first time this year. Kevin Ransom and Jimmy Bousman were second and third, respectively. Only seven of the 15 cars that started the race were still running at the finish.
