PULASKI WOMAN KILLED IN WRECK

A Pulaski County woman was killed Wednesday morning in a single-car wreck on Interstate 81.

State police said Penny Deressa Thornton, 41, of Newbern, was driving south on I-81 at the 113 mile-marker when her Chevrolet Blazer ran off the right side of the road and hit a guard rail.

The vehicle overturned twice, went over the guardrail and down an embankment. Thornton was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene, police said.

The accident happened at 7:20 a.m.
