VETS WANT EMERGENCY ANIMAL CLINIC IN ROANOKE

A group of Roanoke Valley veterinarians has proposed the establishment of an emergency veterinary clinic that would treat sick and injured animals after regular business hours and on weekends and holidays, according to Dr. Jesse Webster.

The clinic would be staffed all night with personnel experienced in treating trauma and acute illnesses in pets, Webster said.

Lynchburg already has a similar center, the Animal Emergency Clinic of Central Virginia. Roanoke area veterinarians currently rotate their after-hours duty among participating hospitals, Webster said.

``We are in the process of looking for a suitable location with central access to people living in the Roanoke Valley and surrounding localities,'' he said.

For more information on the proposed clinic, contact Webster or Dr. Kathryn Neel at Vinton Animal Hospital, 342-7821.
