CELEBRATIONS - WEDDINGS I

Adams-Rohrer

Christina Dawn Rohrer and Daniel Christopher Adams were united in marriage on July 30, 1994, at Roanoke Avenue Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Kingery officiating. A reception was held in the fellowship hall following the wedding.

The bride was escorted to the alter by her father, John T. Rohrer. The maid of honor was Dawn Vineyard, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Tracy Gibson, cousin of the bride, and Tracy Garrelts, friend of the bride. Flowergirl was Holly Gibson.

The best man was Mark Adams, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Chase Lanier and Mike Broughman, friend of the groom. The guestbook was attended by Jonathan Rohrer, brother of the bride. Greeter was Kimberly Poda, friend of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John T. Rohrer of Vinton. She is a recent graduate of Longwood College and is pursuing a career in teaching.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Adams of Abingdon, Va. He is a graduate of Va. Western Comm. College and is employed by Advance Auto Parts. Following the wedding trip to Chincoteague, the newlyweds will live in Roanoke.

\ Anderson-Nickell

Kimberly Ann Nickell and James Brian Anderson were united in marriage on July 30, 1994 in Boones Mill Baptist Church with the Rev. Deroy Campbell officiating. The reception was held in the Church Fellowship Hall.

Melanie Hale, friend of the bride, was the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Stephanie Woodzell and Melissa Brodie, sisters of the bride; Becky Anderson, sister of the groom; and Becki Powell, friend of the bride. The flowergirls were Elizabeth Browning, cousin of the bride, and Sara Guilliams, cousin of the groom. James T. Anderson served as his son's best man. The ushers were Dennis Woodzell and Robert Brodie, brothers-in-law of the bride; Leon Hodges, cousin of the groom; and David Shively, friend of the groom. The ringbearers was Levi Woodzell, nephew of the bride. The candlelighters were Robert Brodie and Dennis Woodzell. Ann Short was the guestbook attendant. Program attendant was Rachel Browning. Basket attendant was Megan Guilliams. A program of wedding music was provided by vocalist, Paula Guilliams; pianist, Sharon Guilliams, and organist, Robyn Wade.

The bride wore a gown of white bridal satin which featured an open vee neckline in the front and back. The slight puffed sleeves tapered down to a pointelled cuff. The dress featured a fitted bodice embellished with pearls and iridescents on applique cut-outs which extended onto a full skirt and cathedral train. She carried a cascading bouquet of various white and purple flowers.

The bride is the daughter of Benny and Frances Nickell of Rocky Mount, Va. She is a graduate of Franklin County High School and is presently enrolle d in the Dental Hygiene Program at Virginia Western Community College. The groom is the son of James T. and Nellie Anderson of Rocky Mount, Va. and the grandson of Lucy Dooley of Roanoke, Va. He is a graduate of Franklin County High School and is employed by Anderson Tile Company.

Following the wedding trip to the Smokey Mountains, Tennessee, the newlyweds will live in Rocky Mount, Va.

\ Chambers-Baker

Aimee Monique Baker and Timothy James Chambers were united in marriage July 30, 1994 at 4:00 p.m. in Salem Wesleyan Church. The Reverend Paul W. Braisted officiated.

Honor attendants were Dana Asbury and Betty Gregory, friends of the bride. Bridesmaids were Leigh Ann Wall, cousin of the bride; and Tina Hubbard, stepsister of the bride. The flowergirl was Brittney Austin, special friend of the bride and groom.

The bride was escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

The best man was Joel Chambers, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Joel Chambers, II, brother of the groom; Jeff Richards, friend of the groom; Jeffrey Baker, brother of the bride; and Troy Baker, brother of the bride. The ringbearer was Adam Gordon, cousin of the bride.

The guestbook was attended by Jamie Baker and Heather Gordon, cousins of the bride. David Paschal and Johnny Weiss were the vocalists. Joyce Gordon was the organist.

The bride is the daughter of Ms. Linda G. Baker of Salem and Mr. Larry G. Baker of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Salem High School and attends Va. Western Comm. College.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Judy Cooper of Elon College, N.C. and Mr. Joel R. Chambers of Burlington, N.C. He is a graduate of Tuloso Midway Rand-Morgan High School, Corpus Christi, Texas.

Both bride and groom are employed by BB's Specialties, Inc.

Following a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, the couple will reside in Salem.

\ Cooper-Protzman

Scott Cooper and Ann Protzman were married on July 11, 1994, in Charlottesville. Scott is the son of Carolyn Lawrence of Roanoke. Ann is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Protzman of Charlottesville. The newlyweds will live in Lynchburg.

\ Ellis-Rhodes

Susan C. Rhodes and Robert G. Ellis were married July 30, 1994 in St. Andrews Catholic Church, Roanoke by Rev. Stephen R. Rule. The reception was held at Days Inn-Airport, Roanoke. The matron of honor was Jeanette D. Smith, the bride's best friend. The best man was Fred C. Ellis, brother of the groom. The ushers were Pierre Ellis, nephew of the groom, Bill Howard, Joe Abatello, Don Fieck, Bill DeBerry, and Eddie Joe Aesy, friends of the groom. The guestbook was attended by Diane Aesy.

The bride is a daughter of Mary and David Rhodes of Estill, S.C. She is employed by First Union National Bank of Virginia. The bridegroom, son of the late Barket Amin Ellis and Louise Ellis, owns the Thunderbird Club in Roanoke. The newlyweds will live in Roanoke County after the wedding trip to Sea Island, Ga.

Kimberley Dawn Kessinger and Robert Everett Farmer, Jr. were married Saturday, July 2, 1994 in Trinity Baptist Church. The officiating clergymen were Joe Jones and Don McKeon. The reception was held in the church fellowship hall. The maid of honor was Deidra Kessinger, sister of the bride. The matron of honor was Clara Whittaker, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Lana Sanders, Lisa Herbert and Michele Donnini, friends of the bride. The flowergirl was Nikki Roseberry, niece of the groom. The best man was Ron McCall, friend of the groom. The ushers were Brett Farmer, brother of the groom, Barry Farmer, brother of the groom, Alan Roseberry, brother-in-law of the groom and Jackie Martin, brother-in-law of the groom. Ringbearer was Brandon Farmer, nephew of the groom. Scripture reading was by Joan Humphreys, friend of the bride. The guestbook was attended by Angela McCoy, cousin of the bride. Pianist was Brenda Oliver, friend of the bride, duet by Diedra Kessinger, sister of the bride and Joey Journell, cousin of the bride. The cake was topped with the same bride & groom figurine used by the bride's parents. The bride carried a cascading bouquet with red, purple & white flowers designed in a Victorian fashion.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby R. Kessinger of Newport and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kessinger and Mr. and Mrs. Ira K. McCoy, all of Newport. She is a graduate of Giles High School and Virginia Tech. She is employed by Giles County Schools as a teacher. The bridegroom, son of Mrs. Nancy Farmer of Pearisburg, and the late Mr. Robert E. Farmer, Sr. and the grandson of Mrs. Elsie Farmer of Keystone, W.Va., is a graduate of Giles High School and Virginia Tech. He is employed by Giles County Schools as a teacher. The newlyweds will live in Blacksburg after the wedding trip to New England.

\ Galanes-Smith

Shelby H. Smith and Stephen N. Galanes were married July 30, 1994 in First United Methodist Church. The officiating clergymen were Jonathan Bennett and Paul Gunsten. The reception was held at the church. The matron of honor was Jackie H. Dooley, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Kay Snead Mook, daughter of the bride, Jennifer Lynn Smith, daughter of the bride, and Robyn Smith Ellis, daughter of the bride. The flowergirl was Emily Margaret Mook, granddaughter of the bride. The best man was Stephen P. Kennedy, friend of the groom. The ushers were Stephen N. Galanes, Jr., son of the groom, Rex W. Mook, son-in-law of the bride, and Willis Buchanan, friend of the groom. The candlelighter was Alisa Rebecca Mook, granddaughter of the bride. The guestbook was attended by Sharon Sheppard, niece of the bride and Cathy Smith, daughter-in-law of the br ide. The bride is employed by Smith & Co., Accountants in Salem, Va. The bridegroom is employed by Lee Hartman & Sons in Roanoke. The newlyweds will live in Salem, Va.

\ George-DuVall

Lisa Rose DuVall and John Emanuel George, both of Richmond, were married Saturday, July 30th, at 2:30 in the afternoon in the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond. The Reverend Father Frederick A. Heckel officiated at the ceremony. The best woman was Caroline DuVall Shell of Blue Ridge, sister of the bride. Bridal attendants were Tami Powell of Fairfax, Peggy Kopishke of Huntingtown, Maryland, Donna Traylor of Prince George and Cindy Moran of Salem. The flowergirl was Julie Szczerbiak of Chesterfield. The best man was Barry Stangline of Atlanta, Georgia. The ushers were Pete George of Seattle, Washington, brother of the groom, Scott Graham of Atlanta, Georgia, Alexandrous Petroutsous of Athens, Greece, cousin of the groom, Al Moore of Richmond and Mark DuVall of Troutville, brother of the bride. The ringbearer was Eric Cameron Shell of Blue Ridge, nephew of the bride. The reader was Sarah Szczerbiak of Chesterfield and the organist was Dr. Patrick Carlin of Richmond.

A catered reception was held the The Atrium immediately following the ceremony. Following the reception, a blessing of the marriage was performed at 7:30 that evening at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral by Reverend Father Constantine N. Dombalis. The evening was concluded with a gathering of family and friends at the hospitality suite at the Marriott Courtyard.

The bride is the daughter of Rosaline and Samuel DuVall of Troutville. She is a graduate of Virginia Tech and is employed with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The groom is the son of Irene and Emanuel George of Atlanta, Georgia. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech and has received a masters from Virginia Tech. He is employed with AT&T Microelectronics. The couple will live in Richmond after a two week trip to Europe.

\ Jarrell-Kirkner

Erica Nicole Kirkner and Michael Eric Jarrell were married July 30, 1994, at Mountain Lake Resort. Minister Tom Hodge performed the ceremony. The matron of honor was Jennifer Musselman, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Paula Rakes, cousin of the bride, Angie Dawson, Heather Bulson, and Melanie Colley, friends of the bride. The flowergirl was Kelly Robertson, cousin of the groom. Larry Jarrell, father of the groom, served as best man. The groomsmen were Ray Musselman, brother-in-law of the bride, Aaron Reed, Josh Brumfield, and Brian Akers, friends of the groom. The ringbearer was Seth Van Hoozier, friend of the bride. The guestbook was attended by Jonathan and Lauren Thomas, cousins of the groom. Erica is the daughter of Keith and Claudette Kirkner and the granddaughter of Faye Rakes and Julia Kirkner, all of Christiansburg. She is a graduate of Christiansburg High School and National Business College. Michael is the son of Larry and Nancy Jarrell of Christiansburg. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. George Jarrell of Blacksburg and Wanna Thomas of Christiansburg. Michael is a graduate of Christiansburg High School and Radford's Licensed Practical Nursing Program. He is employed by T. Stuart Payne in Salem. The couple will reside in Christiansburg.

\ Kagey-Eller

Wendy Ann Eller and David Andrew Kagey were married on Saturday, July 30, 1994 at Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church in Richmond with the Reverend William Young officiating. The reception was held at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens.

The bride is the daughter of Ms. Barbara Eller of Virginia Beach and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Eller of Onley, Virginia. She is a graduate of St. Timothy's in Baltimore and Randolph-Macon College in Ashland and is attending graduate school at Virginia Commonwealth University.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. William Kagey of Roanoke. He is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and Randolph-Macon College. He will be attending the Medical College of Virginia. Mrs. Sherry Janney of Fredericksburg, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Jennifer Kagey of Roanoke, sister of the groom, Michelle Kennan of Richmond and Anne Kagey of Marietta, Georgia, cousin of the groom. Dr. William Kagey, father of the groom, served as best man. The groomsmen were Aaron and Randall Eller of Onley, brothers of the bride and Steven Kagey of Roanoke, brother of the groom. The bride was escorted by her father and wore an off shoulder gown of white bridal satin with an extended chapel train accented with lace and iridescents. She carried a bouquet of white daisies, phalenophsis orchids, white alstromeria and stephanotis. After a wedding trip to Colorado, the couple will reside in Richmond.

\ Kendrick-Wilson

Sherry Wilson and Jamie Kendrick were married April 30 at a 2:00 p.m. candlelight ceremony in Tabernacle of Love with Rev. Andrew Robinson officiating. The reception was held at the fellowship hall. The bride was escorted by her father, James David Wilson. The wedding party was attired in purple and white. The maid of honor was Lisa Mussleman, best friend of bride. Bridesmaids were Tina Kendrick, sister of groom, and Shari Brizendine, friend. The flower girl was Summer Horn. She was escorted by Christopher Linn, nephew of bride. The best man was Robert Kendrick, father of groom. Ushers were David Thornhill, son of bride, and Eddie Garlic, friend of groom. Ringbearer was Bryan Thornhill, son of bride. Special thanks to Wanda Kay Robinson who sang two songs ""Beneath My Wings"" and ""I Will Always Love You"". The bride wore a white satin gown adorned with pearls and sequins with cathedral train. She carried a bouquet of white silk roses with white lace, pearls and sequins. The bride is the daughter of Joyce Carter and James David Wilson, both of Roanoke. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School and attended Virginia Western Community College. She is employed by AARP Pharmacy. The groom is the son of Robert Kendrick of Wytheville and Linda Kendrick of Roanoke . He graduated from William Byrd High School and is employed by Mullin's Auto. The newlyweds are residing in Roanoke after their honeymoon to Virginia Beach and Daytona Beach, Fla.
