Akers-Jearls

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Akers of Christiansburg are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristie Anne Akers, to David Mitchell Jearls of Christiansburg. Mitch is the son of David R. Jearls and Mary Ann Radford of Christiansburg. Kristie is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Akers and Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Griffith, both of Christiansburg. She is the great-granddaughter of Sylvia E. Griffith and Virginia Johnson, also of Christiansburg. Mitch is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Jarrells of Blacksburg. Kristie is a graduate of Radfor d University and is employed as a nutritionist by the Virginia State Department of Health. Mitch is employed as a manager by John Newcomb Enterprises. A September wedding is planned.

Sharon Harper Chambers and David Edward Ferguson are pleased to announce their engagement.

She is the daughter of Nancy B. Jenkins and Alfred Wayne Harper both of Troutville. She is employed by Precision Fabrics Group, Inc.

He is the son of Shirley Blanche Ferguson of Salem and Erskine Ferguson of Buena Vista. He is employed by Fruehauf, Inc.

An August wedding is planned.

Regina Gail Compton and Dale Scott Duncan wish to announce their engagement. Regina is the daughter of Ms. Cherrie Roop of Christiansburg and Mr. Phillip Compton of Dublin. Dale is the son of Mrs. Becky Richardson of Elk Creek. A January 1995 wedding will take place in Blacksburg.

Laura C. Donivan and Mike Clark are engaged and planning to be married June 24, 1995 in Blacksburg. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Donivan. She was graduated from Maranatha High School, Sierra Madre, Ca. and Va. Tech in 1993. She is employed by Va. Tech, University Relations/Publications Office. He is a son of Mr. Robert Clark of St. Louis, Mo. and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Willard of Newport News, Va. He was graduated from Denbigh High School in Newport News, Va. and attends Va. Tech where he is majoring in geography and will graduate in May 1995. He is the owner of Good Morning Consulting in Blacksburg.

Dr. and Mrs. Keith Castleton Edmunds have announced the engagement of their daughter, Judith Russell, to Robert Patrick Birch, son of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Birch of Wheeling, West Virginia.

Miss Jennings is a 1984 graduate of Salem High School and a 1988 graduate of Virginia Tech. Mr. Capanna is a 1984 graduate of Bridgewater Raritan High School in New Jersey and a 1988 graduate of the University of Virginia. An April 1995 wedding is planned in Roanoke.

Mr. and Mrs. Briggs Howard Jones of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan announce the engagement of their daughter, Catherine Erin, to Mr. Joseph William Schmidt III, son of Mrs. Joan Hamilton Schmidt and Dr. Joseph William Schmidt, Jr. of Blacksburg.

Miss Jones, of Richmond, is a graduate of The University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a teacher of biology at Atlee High School, Hanover County.

Mr. Schmidt, also of Richmond, is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He is a sales executive with LDDS Metromedia Communications.

A December wedding in Richmond is planned.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bates Killinger are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Cynthia Anne, to Robert David Kidwell, Jr. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert David Kidwell of Virginia Beach, formerly of Roanoke, Va. A November wedding is planned.

``Outdoor Western Wedding Planned''

Martha Walter-Medina and Paul Anthony Gladden, both of Tracy, have announced their plans to marry September 24, 1994 at the Double T Ranch in Stevinson, Calif.

The groom-elect chose a surprise trip to Washington State where he proposed over a candlelight dinner in a Victorian Mansion overlooking the Puget Sound.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Albert and Barbara Walter of Tracy, and the mother of Jaime and Juliana Medina both of Tracy.

The bride-elect graduated from Tracy High School and attended Delta College. She is employed as a Western Regional Sales Coordinator for Caron Compactor Co., headquartered in Modesto, Calif.

The groom-elect is the son of the late Irvin and Kathleen Gladden of Salem, Va. He is the brother of Maryanna Sallas, Ervin, Barry and Tommy Gladden all of Salem, Va., and Bobby Gladden of Richmond, Va. He is the grandson of Mary Morris of Christiansburg, Va

The groom-elect graduated from Glenvar High School in Salem, Va., and is employed as an Installation/ Project Foreman for Sentry Equipment Erectors based in Forrest, Va.

\ Obenchain-Akers| The parents of Shannon Renee Obenchain would like to announce the engagement of their daughter, to Jonathan Tracy Akers.

The wedding is planned for September 3rd. It will take place at the Claytor Lake Homestead Inn, located in Draper, Va.
