RAGAZZO TO RETIRE FROM TECH

Vito Ragazzo, a member of the Virginia State Hall of Fame, has announced his retirement as director of student life in Virginia Tech's athletic department.

Ragazzo, a star football player at William and Mary and former head football coach at VMI and Division II Shippensburg State, has worked for Tech for the past seven years.

"All of us connected with Virginia Tech athletics appreciate the many contributions Vito made," Tech athletic director Dave Braine said.

Ragazzo was Virginia's coach of the year in 1967 when VMI went 6-4, and he was the Division II national coach of the year in 1981 after Shippensburg's 12-1 season.

He is in the Hall of Fame at William and Mary, where he was a star receiver.
