DUBLIN - The New River Community College will train 10 New River Valley residents who are unemployed and receive some form of welfare assistance.
The Dublin campus will begin the Computerized Numerical Control machine operations training in August. The training, funded through a federal grant program, will be implemented through a one-year certificate-level program.
Applicants must meet the general requirements for admission to the college and eligibility guidelines established by the Job Training Partnership Act program.

Benefit breakfast
BLACKSBURG - ERA Townside will hold its 8th Annual All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast, Friday, Sept. 2, 6-9 p.m. at the Townside office, 2803 South Main Street.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
There will be a $1000 door prize. Tickets can be purchased from any Townside employee for $5.

Night Light Program
BLACKSBURG - The Night Light Program, a free supportive care service provided by New River Valley Hospice and Montgomery Regional Hospital, is available during evening hours at Montgomery Regional Hospital.
New River Valley Hospice provides medical, emotional and social support for people with life threatening illnesses. Trained hospice volunteers offer comfort to dying patients and their families. The program began in June and is open to all terminally ill patients.
