LYNCHBURG COLLEGE recently announced the names of its Roanoke graduates. They are:
Karla Bratton-Calloway, B.A. in psychology/special education; Paula Collins, B.S. in accounting and named to dean's list; Anthony Cummings, B.A. in communications; Jay Gentry, B.S. in biology; Heather Hartman, B.S. in life sciences and named to the dean's list; Melinda Hayes, B.A. in psychology.
VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY in Richmond recently inducted two Roanoke students into Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. They are: Timothy Michael Beirne, son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Beirne, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemistry; Vincent Dale Stover, who received his master's degree in public administration.
ROANOKE COLLEGE has been awarded three grants totaling $5,325 by The Mid Atlantic Arts' 1994-95 Performing Arts Touring Program. The grants will be used to underwrite expenses connected with three performances during the 1994-95 series.
TOM BASILE, son of Vince and Zip Basile of Roanoke, recently returned from a program at the Concordia French Language Village near Hackensack, Minn. He is a rising sophomore at North Cross School.
The Concordia Language Village is an informal experience-based program that introduces young people to world languages and cultures.
ROBIN C. DIVERS, daughter of Carol B. and Gardner D. Divers, took part in the 1994 Student Introduction to Engineering program at North Carolina State University. The program is designed to introduce students to the various fields of engineering. She is a student at Cave Spring High School.
DAVID EICHELBERGER of Roanoke has been selected to attend The National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. The conference is a leadership development program for high school students who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit. Eichelberger will interact with national leaders and newsmakers from the three branches of government, the media and the diplomatic corps in the 11-day conference.
ALICE ARNOLD, a student at Glenvar High School, recently participated in Presidential Classroom's 1994 Senior High School Program in Washington, D.C. The 340 students who attended the program met with government leaders and transition officials to learn about the democratic process.
JIMMY ARTHUR JR., son of Jimmy and Nona Arthur of Hollins has been named to the dean's list at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Ga.
MONICA MANNS, daughter of Carolyn Manns of Roanoke, has been named to the dean's list at Berea College in Berea, Ky. She is a graduate of William Fleming High School.
KRISTI MULLINS, daughter of William E. and Judy B. Mullins of Salem, was recently selected for Who's Who Among American High School Students for the second consecutive year. She will attend Radford University in the fall.
