BOVA DISTRIBUTING CO.'S PRESIDENT DIES AT 70

Frank W. Bova, president of Bova Distributing Co., died Wednesday at the age of 70.

Bova was born in Roanoke and attended one year of college at Virginia Tech before joining the Army.

After returning from World War II and marrying his childhood sweetheart, Edith Poff, Bova went to work for his father in the family distribution business.

Edith Poff Bova said in the 45 years her husband ran the Anheuser-Busch distributor, it grew from one truck to a coverage area of several counties around Roanoke.

In 1993, Bova Distributing received Anheuser-Busch's highest award, the "Ambassador Wholesaler," which recognizes efforts in management, sales and marketing, delivery, administration and community involvement.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Oakey's South Chapel.
