JOBLESS CLAIMS DOWN AGAIN

The number of Americans seeking state unemployment benefits declined for the second consecutive week last week to the lowest level since February, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

Initial claims totaled a seasonally adjusted 319,000 in the week ending July 30, the lowest since Feb. 26. Virginia reported the second-largest increase, 196 new claims.

The Labor Department's four-week moving average of claims was 350,750, down 6,250 from the previous week and the lowest in four weeks.
