GRETNA MAN DIES IN CAR ACCIDENT

A Gretna man was killed Friday night in Pittsylvania County near Chatham when he was thrown from a car he was driving after it struck a tree.

Ricky Wayne Davis, 29, lost control of the car as it rounded a curve on Virginia 605 about 7:30 p.m. Friday. The car went off the road to the left and hit a tree. Davis was thrown from the vehicle.

State police in Salem said Davis died at the scene of the accident.
