Clyburn, who was 3-for-5 with four RBI, hit a two-run home run (his 18th homer this season) to spark a three-run seventh inning that gave the Bucs a 9-4 lead. Sanford led off the ninth with his 13th homer of the year to cap a 3-for-5, three-RBI day.
Clyburn and Sanford also teamed for one of the best defensive plays of the game and stop a Prince William rally. Salem led 5-1 when Paul Gonzalez smacked a double over Clyburn's head in left field. Eddie Pearson scored from third, but Clyburn made a spectacular throw from the warning track to Sanford, the second baseman, who threw to catcher Jason Kendall to catch Charles Poe at the plate.
Clyburn doubled home two runs in the first inning, and Salem led 4-0 in the second after Reed Secrist hit an RBI double and Sanford singled in a run. Sanford added an RBI double in the fourth to make it 5-1, then tripled home another run in the sixth to make it 6-2.
Dave Doorneweerd (5-6) and three relievers combined on the win. Doorneweerd allowed six hits and three runs before being removed in the sixth inning after hitting Jimmy Hurst. Robert Machado knocked in two runs with a single to make the score 6-4.
Cannons left fielder Charles Poe was ejected in the seventh after base umpire Wayne Krauss inspected Poe's bat and took it to the dressing room. Poe was told the bat appeared to have been tampered with.
