E&H PRESIDENT CONTRIBUTES TO BOOK ON VOTING

Emory & Henry College President Thomas Morris, a frequent commentator on Virginia government and politics, has co-authored a chapter in ``The Impact of the Voting Rights Act, 1965-1990,'' published by Princeton University Press.

He and Neil Bradley, associate director of the Southern Regional Office of the American Civil Liberties Foundation, based in Atlanta, wrote the book's chapter on Virginia.

It outlines changes brought about by the act, constitutional and statutory cases in Virginia related to it, and its effect on the election of minority candidates to local offices.

The book has a chapter on each of the eight Southern states covered by the act.
