Volunteers needed for MDA Telethon

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is looking for volunteer telephone operators for the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association's "Stars Across America" telethon.

Volunteers are needed to work in the Roanoke pledge center for four-hour shifts on Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4 and 5. If interested, call Donna Kester at 772-3237.

Festival of Trees entries being accepted

The Mental Health Association of Roanoke Valley is now accepting applications for the twelfth annual Festival of Trees.

The festival, a display of decorated evergreens entered by area business and community organizations, will be held in the Jefferson Center in downtown Roanoke from Dec. 2 through Christmas Eve.

Businesses and organizations interested in entering a tree may contact the Mental Health Association at 344-0931.
