Claytor craft fair

DUBLIN - The 16th annual arts and crafts show sponsored by Virginia Mountain Crafts Guild will be held Labor Day weekend, Sept. 3-5, at Claytor Lake State Park. The show hours are: Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sunday, noon-6 p.m. and Monday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The event includes a juried crafts show, live traditional music from the porch of the Howe House, children's activities and food.

Crafts on display and for sale include baskets, calligraphy, dolls and toys, jewelry, leather goods, metal and wood work, painting, pottery quilts, stained glass and wax ornaments.

Free immunizations

CHRISTIANSBURG - The New River Health District and Montgomery Regional Hospital will give free childhood immunizations at the New River Valley Mall on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Parents should bring their child's immunization records. Children receiving shots will get a free T-shirt.

Voices in Harmony

RADFORD - Voices in Harmony, Radford University's children's and youth choir, will hold auditions Aug. 22 and Aug. 25.

The choir is open to ages 9-15. Those who audition are encouraged, but not required, to bring a prepared song along with a musical score or prerecorded accompaniment.

Flood relief

PULASKI - The Salvation Army is collecting donations of nonperishable food items, cleaning supplies and money to help Georgia's flood victims.

Bulk items may be donated at the thrift stores operated by the Salvation Army on East Main Street in Christiansburg and on Commerce Street in Pulaski.

Checks made out to the Salvation Army marked "flood relief" may be mailed to: The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 229, Pulaski, Va., 24031.

Voter registration

CHRISTIANSBURG - The Montgomery County Voter Registration Office will provide voter registration service to county residents with continuing illness or physical disability Sept. 6-9. An office representative will visit applicants at their place of confinement.

To obtain a service request form, call the office at 382-5741. Completed forms must be received at the office five days prior to the scheduled visit day.

Save Our Streams

CHRISTIANSBURG - The New River Valley Cooperative Extension and the Virginia Natural History Museum are sponsoring a Save Our Streams Training Workshop on Thursday from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Participants will meet at the Montgomery County Extension Office in Christiansburg.

The workshop will train individuals and groups to preserve water quality in streams by using observation, data collection and biological testing techniques. The course resource packet cost is $6. To register call 382-5790.

Autumnfest 94
