The Salem Buccaneers' shortstop went 3-for-4 with a two-run double and a solo homer in a 6-3 Carolina League victory over the Red Sox at City Stadium.
Salem got off to a favorable start in the first inning when a RBI singles by Chance Sanford and Danny Clyburn and a sacrifice fly by Mitch House, just back from Augusta of the South Atlantic League, gave them a 3-0 lead. Collier made it 5-1 in the fourth with a two-run double.
The first five runs came at the expense of Steve Hayward, who lost his eighth consecutive decision and tied a club record held by Ken Ryan, now with the parent Boston Red Sox, with his 14th loss.
Ryan McGuire drove in two runs with a sacrifice fly and a double for Lynchburg.
Matt Ryan recorded his second save, both coming during the series, by pitching an inning of hitless and scoreless relief. Bucs starter Steve Parris scattered three hits in five innings, striking out five and walking two to improve his record to 3-2.
