BOB THOMAS REPORTS THE NEWS FOR WRAD AND WRIQ

BOB THOMAS - a familiar face at local meetings and events - covers and reports area and local news Monday through Saturday on Classic Country, WRAD (1460 AM) and CD Country WRIQ (101.7 FM), Radford. A broadcasting veteran, Thomas airs 15-minute comprehensive newscasts on WRAD at 7:45 a.m., 12:05 p.m. and 4 p.m. Headline reports are at 6:05 and 7:05 a.m. On WRIQ, he anchors two local and state news broadcasts at 8:35 a.m. and 5:35 p.m.

Wednesday, he plans to interview U.S. Senate candidate Oliver North and broadcast excerpts on his daily WRAD newscasts the rest of the week.

On Friday, Thomas and Annie M. visit Thompson Tire, Pulaski, and The Market Place Shopping Center, Christiansburg, for live broadcasts. The pair returns to The Market Place the next day.

Starting Sept. 2, WRAD broadcasts Radford Bobcats football, while WRIQ carries exclusive broadcasts of Pulaski County Cougars football. Both schools play Friday nights. Both stations will air a weekly look at area high school football on "Hudson's Huddle". The show will bring together Ralph Berrier, sports reporter for the Roanoke Times & World-News, Dan Callahan, sports reporter for the Southwest Times and Bob Thomas, WRAD-WRIQ news director.

Join Brian O'Donnell each week on WRAD and WRIQ for his call-in show featuring drivers and officials of the New River Valley Speedway. It airs Thursdays at 5:45 p.m. Listeners get a chance to win tickets to the race that Saturday.

Call the stations at 639-2461.
