The Montgomery County Public Schools are working to prepare students and parents for the start of school on Aug. 29. School orientations are scheduled Wednesday to Aug. 26.
Elementary Schools
Belview Elementary: Aug. 25. Kindergarten 10 a.m.; grades 1-5 10:30 a.m.; open visitation 5-7 p.m.
Bethel Elementary: Aug. 25. Kindergarten-grade 5 visitation 4-7 p.m.; kindergarten orientation 7-8 p.m.
Christiansburg Elementary: Aug 25. Grades 3-5 visitation 1-3 p.m. and 6-7 p.m.
Christiansburg Primary: Kindergarten orientation and visitation Aug. 24, 7 p.m.; grades 1 and 2 visitation Aug. 25, 1-3 p.m. and 6-7 p.m.

Christiansburg High School:Freshman orientation Aug. 25, 10 a.m.- noon and 5:30- 8 p.m. Students and parents may visit the school to pay fees between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. now until the start of school.
Christiansburg Middle School: Visitation and fee payments Aug. 25, 5:30 - 8 p.m. and Aug. 26, 10 a.m.- noon.
Shawsville HIgh and Middle School: Aug. 25. New student orientation 9-10 a.m.; grade 6 orientation 7-8 p.m.; visitation and fee payment for all grades 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Students and parents may also pay fees at the school Aug. 22-24, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Other Happenings
The Parent Resource Centers of Giles, Montgomery and Pulaski counties and the city of Radford will present a free program on special education in the New River Valley on Tuesday, Aug. 23 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Christiansburg Elementary School. "Understanding Special Education" will teach parents to help with their child's special education program and explain rules and regulations of special education and what each county has to offer.

Auburn Middle and High School will hold a meeting Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. to discuss the school's club meeting policy. Those unable to attend may send comments to the attention of Robert Miller at the school.
The Blacksburg High School Athletic Boosters Club will meet Aug. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school faculty lounge. For more information, call Dennis Dowdy at 382-2283 or Rhonda Rogers at 231-6204.
The Auburn High School cheerleaders will sponsor a spaghetti supper in the high school cafeteria Friday at 4 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5 or $3.50 for children under 12.
