Debra Howard was recently installed as Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, H.H. MacKenzie Unit #3. Howard is a Medical Administrative Specialist at the VA Medical Center in Salem.
Also elected for the 1994-95 term were: Margie Stump, senior vice commander; Virginia Kline, junior vice commander; Joyce Allen, adjutant; Julia Stultz, treasurer; Jean Seleno, sergeant at arms; and Jan Woolwine, chaplain.
Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the H.H. MacKenzie Chapter Home, 2381 Roanoke Blvd., across from the Virginia Veterans Care Center in Salem. Women who have questions about eligibility should contact the Chapter Home at 345-0577.
SHARE Virginia needs county participants
SHARE Virginia, a program of New River Community Action, would like to start additional host organizations in Roanoke County. SHARE is a community service program that distributes food once a month.
Each participant pays $13 and donates two hours of community service, which may be performed at the local host organization, the SHARE warehouse or any other volunteer or church organization.
Groups interested in becoming involved in the SHARE program should contact Sharon Witt at 982-2074.
Festival of Trees entries being accepted
The Mental Health Association of Roanoke Valley is now accepting applications for the twelfth annual Festival of Trees.
The festival, a display of decorated evergreens entered by area business and community organizations, will be held in the Jefferson Center in downtown Roanoke from Dec. 2 through Christmas Eve.
Businesses and organizations interested in entering a tree may contact the Mental Health Association at 344-0931.
