THE CATHOLIC HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF THE ROANOKE VALLEY is seeking a new location. Jean Forrest, its director, said the three rooms the society has used in the old convent that once housed the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth have become too expensive to heat now that the building is no longer used by either Roanoke Catholic Schools or the nearby St. Andrew's Church.

The society maintains a small museum of Catholic memorabilia at 600 block of North Jefferson Street. Volunteers from nearby parishes staff the museum each Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Forrest said the museum will remain open in the convent if enough money can be found to keep the quarters open year round. As an alternative, another easily accessible site may be rented.
