BEDFORD MAN DIES IN ACCIDENT

A Bedford man was killed early Thursday when he lost control of his car and it hit a tree.

Michael Douglass Harris, 24, of 4006 Oliver St., was traveling west on U.S. 221 near Virginia 670 about 12:40 a.m when his car ran off the left shoulder.

State police said Harris was dead at the scene. Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt.

A car salesman at Lynchburg Ford Inc., Harris was traveling home from Lynchburg when he was killed, a family member said.
