BLAKLEY, Peggy Jeanne, 70, of Salem, died Saturday, August 20, 1994 after a lengthy illness. She was a loving wife, mother and friend to all. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, R. Thomas Blakley; sons, Charles E. Blakley of Register, Georgia and Daniel L. Blakley of San Francisco, Calif.; daughters, Colleen Blakley of Burlington, N.C., and Norma B. Hardbarger of Millboro; sister, Betty Jo Waldrop of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Lotz Funeral Home Chapel in Salem on Tuesday, August 23 at 12 noon with burial in Sherwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, August 22 at the Lotz Funeral Home. CLYBURN, Linda Gray Thurman, 41, of Greenville, W. Va., formerly of Roanoke, died Saturday, August 20, 1994. She is survived by her husband, Mason Boyd Clyburn; sons, CPL. Winston Thurman, U.S.M.C., Robert Chad Thurman, Robert Wayne Thurman Jr.; grandson, Christian Jacob (Dinkus) Thurman; parents, John and Elizabeth Gray; brother, John Gray Jr.; sisters, Debbie Keaton, Cathy Fielder; several nieces and nephews; a special nephew, David (Hoss) Fielder; one great-niece, Valeria (Pumpkin) Keaton. CRAGHEAD, Lillie Witt, of Blue Ridge, our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, has gone home to her Lord on Sunday, August 21, 1994. She was the widow of Claude A. Craghead of Covington, and the daughter of the late Willie D. and Mabel C. Witt of Bedford. Born January 31, 1920 in Bedford County, she moved to Covington in 1938 and was a devoted wife and mother. She moved to Roanoke in 1974, eighteen months after her husband's death. For many years she was co-owner of Knit-Fit Fabrics, Inc., sharing with many her expertise and love of sewing. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Roanoke and a member of Pat Fuller's Sunday School Class. The last seven years have been physically difficult, but she has remained a genteel lady. She is survived by her son-in -law and daughter, Roger P. and Gail C. Arthur of Blue Ridge; a son and daughter-in-law, David A. and Linda L. Craghead of Smithfield; four grandchildren, Matthew S. Craghead, Smithfield, Teresa A. Webb, Roanoke, R.P. Arthur Jr., Roanoke, Billy C. Arthur, Blue Ridge; her sister, Frances Witt Montgomery of Covington; a very special friend of 19 years, Thomas C. Hodges Jr. of Covington. Services to honor her will be held at Oakey's North Chapel on Tuesday, August 23, 1994 at 1 p.m. with Dr. Charles Fuller officiating with burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington. Graveside services in Covington will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday. The family will meet with loved ones, family and friends Monday, August 22 at Oakey's North Chapel. She loved flowers and has received many during her illness. With all the unanswered questions about Cancer and Heart Disease, the family kindly requests that donations be made to either of these two charities in lieu of flowers.

HAMLETT, Herbert Wise, 73, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, August 20, 1994. He was a retired Fraternal Insurance Counselor with Woodman of the World Insurance. He was a member of Woodmen of the World Camp 66, American Legion Post 3, a Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, and the Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by twin sons, Larry N. and Gary S. Hamlett. He is survived by his wife, Ruth C. Hamlett; son and daughter-in-law, John H. and Yvonne C. Hamlett; granddaughter, Rebekah Ruth Hamlett; sister, Connie Sullivan; brother, Donald W. Hamlett; nephew, Dennis Yarnold; niece, Delores Wilkerson. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 23, 1994 at 10 a.m. at Lotz Salem Chapel with Mr. Jim Herron and Mr. Roy Miller officiating. HARLESS, Edwin Miller, (Ed), 82, of Radford, passed away Sunday, August 21, 1994 at Radford Community Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army. He was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Harless. WINGFIELD, Louis Lilborn Jr., 80, of Bedford, died Sunday, August 21, 1994. He was a resident of the Elks National Home and was born in Bedford on August 14, 1914, a son of the late Louis Lilborn Wingfield, Sr. and Elizabeth May Bush Wingfield. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Eugene Bush. He was a retired employee of Piedmont Label Company. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Lynchburg Elks Lodge #321, Bedford Moose Lodge #1897, Bedford Ruritan Club and was active in the Little Town Players. He is survived by several cousins, Annette Burke, Harrisonburg, Barbara Hatcher, Bristol, Clarence Bush, Charleston, W.Va., M. Pride Wingfield, Helen Rucker, Mary Wingfield, Margaret Bennett, all of Bedford, Nellie Coleman, Roanoke, and Warren Thurman, Vinton. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, August 23, 1994 at 11 a.m. in Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. D. Glen Langston officiating. WRIGHT, Thomas Lee, 76, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, August 21, 1994, in a local hospital. He was a retired machinist having been employed at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and had belonged to Teamsters local #171 and #822. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Salem. Mr. Wright was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Michael Harris. Surviving are his wife, Frances Hackett Wright; a daughter and son-in-law, Rovonda and Steve Andrews of Hardy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas (Tony) E. and Colleen Strouth Wright of Roanoke, James R. (Jim) and Elsie Tyler Wright of Salem; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Katherine and Lewin Lugar and Beatrice Wright Caldwell, all of Roanoke; a brother, George B. Wright of Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 1994, from Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Billy G. White Jr. officiating.
