DUNCAN EARNS MINI STOCK WIN AT NEW RIVER

Gene Duncan of Radford retook the lead with five laps to go and held on to win the 25-lap Mini Stock race completed late Saturday night at New River Valley Speedway.

It was Duncan's 11th win of the year.

The race was the last event in the Dooley Printing/PSK Radio 300, which started 45 minutes late because of persistent rain showers.

Finishing second was Jeff Manning, followed by Ray Sowers.

In the Pure Stock race, two disqualifications changed the official order of finish.

Apparent second-place finisher Robbie Cundiff had an illegal head. Robbie Vaught, who had crossed the finish line fourth, had illegal valves.

With those cars removed from the finishing order, Tony Rogers moved to second place and Aaron Deplazes to third.

Davis Phillips of Plum Creek won the race.
